There is no nobility in poverty and that's a fact. Some people look rich but don't know that they are poor. Ironic right? Well below are the signs that show a person is poor irrespective of everything else.
1. If you stopped working, irrespective of how much you earn, you cannot maintain your present lifestyle for up to three months.
I really don't care about how much you earn if your savings can't maintain your present lifestyle for more than three months you are poor. Also if you have to change your lifestyle and cut off some things you usually do or make drastic changes in order to get by then you're poor. It really doesn't matter if you live in Ajegunle or Banana Island.
2. It takes you more than an hour to get to work.
I know I'm shaking tables and pressing buttons but please hear me out. Deciding to work miles away from home means your area doesn't pay well or has less attractive opportunities and wherever you're working pays enough to keep you going but you can't afford to move to the area where you work because it's too expensive for you. Brethren, there's only one conclusion you're poor.
3. You have bills you struggle with or can't afford to pay.
I always tell people that no one likes to owe or deliberately decide not to pay their recurring monthly payments. Well we all know that it's condition that made the crayfish bent. Irrespective of where you live and how much you earn, if you struggle to pay your bills or can't afford to pay for them you're poor.
4. You buy things because it's cheap even when you don't need them.
Have you ever quickly bought a commodity you never budgeted for because it's cheap? Well you're poor. Rich people are more about quality not price. It could be a really huge discount, clearance sale or auction. If these things still make you go into a buying frenzy then you're poor. When you're poor, you want to get the best price for everything because you're trying to save money.
5. You see fast food as the highest standard of food.
If you look longingly at eateries when you walk past and see those who buy food there as lucky and even fantasize about going there one day then you're poor. If you feel really proud of yourself when you buy things from the mall or eateries then you're poor. Rich people consider this normal. If you begin to take several pictures at the eateries when you go in order to remember going there then you're poor.
6. You have an addiction.
Don't get me wrong, some rich people have addictions but statistically poor people have far greater addiction problem than the rich. They turn to alcohol to drown their sorrows or forget their problem. Ask yourself, do I drink to relax and unwind or to forget my problems momentarily.
7. Your house smells funny.
This is probably because you live in the worst part of the state you reside in not by choice but because you can't afford to move or because housing is cheap there. No rich person will live in a place that resembles the state's waste dumping site.
8. Your car is over 15 years old and is tired.
If you've been using the same car for more than 15 years you're poor especially if the car is in shambles. Some people's cars need to be thrown away. The car brings out so much smoke, is literally falling apart and only the owner can fully understand the car. This is a clear sign of poverty. Rich people sell off their cars as soon as it starts to give them problems.
9. You spend money before you get it.
If you have waiting problems to solve or debit to pay before you even get paid, you're poor especially if the expenditures take all your money.
10. You don't have a loving partner or family.
No matter how wealthy financially you are, if you don't have that special someone or loving family, you're extremely poor and you'll feel it. Imagine having all the money with no one to share it with. This is the sole reason most rich people are miserable.
