At least 11 people were Wednesday morning (today) killed when a bus they were traveling in rolled along Nairobi-Garissa highway.
The bus was ferrying passengers towards Garissa when the driver lost control of the vehicle in Tulimani area near Mwingi Town.
Traffic commandant Samuel Kimaru said the accident occurred at about 3am and at least 40 other passengers were seriously wounded.
The death toll may rise because there were serious injuries. It was out of human error, he said.
He said seven people died on the spot while the rest died as they were treated at a nearby hospital.
Many people were trapped in the bus after the accident which slowed the rescue efforts, he said.
