The roads; Athi River- Machakos Turnoff road which extends to the Kitengela turnoff, James Gichuru-Rironi roads and Rironi to Nakuru road will link these metropolitan towns.
Construction of these roads is concurrently going on with that of the Nairobi Expressway.
According to KeNHA Managing Director Peter Mundinia, these projects are expected to be completed by December 2021.
“People living to the west, it’s going to be easy from Nairobi. On the Eastern side, we’re also doing a road from the turnoff to Kitengela all the way to the junction of Machakos.
This certainly brings about ease of movement within these built up areas,” stated Peter Mundinia.
The constructions have also been impactful in the fight against unemployment, as youth get employed through these projects.

“You know how much time we actually lose when we pass through Nairobi. The moment you solve the problem as far as traffic is concerned, then you open up Nairobi,” commented Mr. Mundinia.
The construction has also attracted real estate development along the road network.
Kenyans have been requested by the KenHA to continue being patient with the constructions, as the authority lauded citizens for their support despite the challenges faced.
