The death toll in the Isiolo-Garissa clashes has increased to five as two more bodies were discovered early Monday morning.

Local administrators confirmed to The Standard that the two bodies were discovered in a thicket as a hunt for the attackers started.
The latest discovery adds to the initial three who were murdered on Sunday afternoon at Kampi Samaki. They include 18-year-old Burey Adow who was pregnant at the time of the attack.

Others were identified as Yerrow Kaban aged 80 and Adow Abdow, 86.

Thirty-three camels were stolen from herders Hussein Roble and Ali Adan at Kampi Samaki.

The police have also launched investigations on the involvement of the Isiolo county inspectorate as well as former disarmed National Police Reservists.

According to Lagdera Deputy County Commissioner Philip Koima, armed men went on a killing spree when they raided Kampi Samaki village which lies in the disputed area between the two counties.

He said the assailants torched seven houses as residents scampered for safety in the neighbouring villages.

Questions have also emerged on how 70 armed individuals could plan, coordinate and attack the village with the police having no intel.

While politicians from both sides have been accused of fanning the conflicts, the government has come under scrutiny for taking too long to solve the boundary row.
