A clogged CCM presidential race highlights deep seated insecurities of the pretenders, power mongering and gross indiscipline!

For the first time in our post-independence history the presidential race is prematurely congested with presidential pretenders who are intently keen to mislead us that they are presidential materials while in fact they are political conmen!

Of all the political parties, CCM you would expect to have parlayed state largesse to instill and enforce party discipline which is extremely vital to reassure hard-die party loyalists that summit leadership is not a conduit for personal gain.

But that is now no longer a matter of conjecture but a fact is CCM is increasingly becoming a political party where looters and muggers of national resources find official refuge and a sympathetic Uncle SAm!

Top CCM organs have issued a number of diktats against flouting electoral party procedures and written warnings were slapped upon notorious recidivists; but sensing a president nursing and grappling with both a weakening medical ailment and a lameduck reign, seem to be challenging him for a political duel!

CCM top organs appear toothless to penalize runaway political presidential ambitions which in public court domain paint an awkward image of a party running amok and rudderless where thieving politicians exploit internal party frailties to remind serious presidential seekers of their public influence and willingness to sacrifice burning personal ambitions!

But behind the scenes political horse trading seem to be an enduring fad because to be a minister you must also be an mp!

If the two were constitutionally separable most of CCM presidential pretenders would have been content to cling to the elusive vagaries of defending their hotly contested parliamentary seats.

Most mps know that they will not successfully defend their seats so turning their attention to the presidency is designed to intimidate potential local rivals, chirping to realistic presidential seekers of the powerbrokers' potentiality to tip the scales but also to agitate top party mandarins that they are political heavy weights not to be overlooked despite their forthcoming dismal election outcomes.

Uncle SAm is also an accessory to the weakening of our institutions of governance because of their willingness to subsidize massive official graft in order to advance parochial goals of securing an economic foothold in this part of the world.

If the current crop of powerbrokers camouflaging as CCM presidential hopefuls is not hindered and permanently impedded then we will be willingly surrendering the leaderdhip to lawbreakers and we should not be bemused when they use their new ironclad on power to restore their personal wealth which they are now brandishing and splashing to will be voters

One thing is of utmost importance....The top officials and organs should stay impartial and let people decide..After all politics is a game of popularity

How can they be impartial when all of them are partisans transfixed to promote a presidential candidate of their own whom they believe will protect their parochial interests?

some think we have many people who can be presidents, i think we have lowered the standards and quality of leadership especially the presidential post in a way that most of us fits to be ''presidents''

Can't agree more. If Mwinyi, Mkapa and Jk can aspire and ascend to the highest office and survive despite overseeing all forms of official graft then anybody can be our president with no qualms to the ruled!

The undemocratic process behind the election of Magufuli as CCM presidential candidate reveals CCM has run out of political agenda now is throwing a tribal kitchen sink at us hoping the Sukuma vote is sufficient to ride her back to power.....the calculations are faulty and costly..

Just like Moi in 2007, JK is UNWITTINGLY handing power to UKAWA!

UKAWA have hit a jackpot with LOWASSA...CCM will sweat to reclaim the State House!

JK unwittingly has handed the opposition the 2015 parliamentart majority and State House by a combination of political miscalculations and gross naivety.

Former president of Kenya, Daniel Arap Moi must be watching the Kanu déjà vu in CCM in disbelief, shock and horror! In 2007, the precocious opposition in Kenya under steady hands of Mwai Kibaki watched in trepidation that Moi was about to hand power to Professor George Saitoti who was his vice president. The Kibaki machine knew they did not have the votes to challenge the well established Prof. Saitoti who required no introduction in national political limelight.

Then political fallout that ensued to deny Prof. Saitoti the Kanu presidential nomination ticket costed KANU the presidency, and todate has confined her into "has been"!

Moi tapped a political novice in Uhuru Kenyatta and the opposition was fired with passion, belief and enthusiasm and KANU not only lost the control of the Augusta House but also the State House, and JK seems to be an innocuous student of Moi' s mea culpa!

The reasons that stoked the ambers of Saitoti's downfall seems to be the same that have provoked CCM to yank out Edward Lowassa's presidential ambitions.

If you had listened careful, Lowassa's CCM eulogy you will decipher quite clearly the fear of the unkown had convinced his CCM nemesis to overturn his presidential ambitions. Words like jealousy, vengeance and character assassination dominated Lowassa's CCM disclaimer and Professor Saitoti had similar grudges to nurse the only memorable difference is Lowassa is gunning for presidency while Prof. Saitoti stood aside to permit Mwai Kibaki to victoriously run for the summit job in public service.

In a comparative analysis, Magufuli stands no chance to upend the charismatic Lowassa match to the State House. Magufuli will laud his flitting contributions in our infrastructure sorry state but we are not electing a mayor but the president who will be shaping our public policy in the next five years and appraising Magufuli's speeches he is ill equipped for this task where policy formulation not tasks execution is the job specification needed.

CCM will need to equivocate on Lowassa where in our recent memory JK was praising him in parliament for being an astute politician. Doublespeak will cost CCM plenty of votes.

Will Lowassa win? My crystal eyeball informs me yes he will beat Magufuli hands down, and the latter if he is wise enough ought to jettison the CCM titanic ship before it is too late, and join UKAWA!

Going tribal?!..talking about desperation!, This's getting interesting every sec. Lumumba you have a problem, CCM Been in power for fifty yrs but it's not that powerful after all, as soon one of them diverted to the other side looks like all hell is breaking loose on Chama kubwa.

KUNI you are spot on for longevity in power is accursed if there are gross injustices inflicted on people.

Listening to the halitosis spewing off the mouth of Dr. Harrison Mwakyembe leaves me bristling and in a dire need of puking my offals....

If Dr. Mwakyembe - whom I regard as an unrepentant hypocrite - did really have incriminating criminal evidence against Lowassa over Richmond then he should have reported it to either Takukuru or DPP's office years back. Dr. Mwakyembe needs no reminder that Takukuru's parliamentary report confirmed beyond reasonable doubt that Richmond/Dowans~GATE were a fecund imagination of conspiracy junkies but nothing more.

Failure to disprove Takukuru's findings will establish Dr. Mwakyembe is not only a reckless bluffer but also he is a compulsive deceiver whom we should totally disregard. The Richmond/Dowans saga is dead and buried; and, as a nation we have assiduously learnt to move on for who in his right senses will stroke a dead horse instead of affording it a decent burial?

My only worry, it seems, we have left behind this learned gentleman but is he really gentle knowing of his venal indulgences as a cabinet minister and his devil daring distractions?

While Dr. Mwakyembe is a sad reminder of our murky past, the indefatigable Lowassa is bouyantly shaping our collective future which fortunately includes Dr. Mwakyembe's notwithstanding his fleeting concerns over ccm hatched official graft. The learned don should be grateful not to hurl self destructive pellets which only excel in revealing the moral decay in himself!
