@kamathig In Mt. Kenya you stand a higher chance of getting E7C and 42E. Also try 95E and 52E on your 2.4m not cm.Sorry ranksat. I was on 42.0E, the west beam was nowhere near with 2.4cm but TRT WorldHD signal was very strong @94%. As anyone tried 7C?

It seems you're using low quality cablehi fellow ASAS victims!!!iko swali.i wish to combine, using inverto&stargold sg100-i lnbs, 51.5e and 57 since it offers, for now,the best combo of European football, cartoons, movies, news and docs for my needs and the signals are pretty strong in Kenya-especially 57.this calls for a diseqc switch.but am worried about signal attenuation/loss based on my past (horrible) experiences with diseq switches.so, what is the best locally available brand of diseq switch ,or there is no difference?this is the second time am asking this question,so pls don't ignore again.
secondly i have read about things called inline satellite amplifiers. some sat forums tout them as one possible way of dealing with this problem when one doesn't have a BUD.has anyone here used them?are they available locally and are they effective?

I use the same DiSEqc Switch - ESD-81.There was a time I had two disceq switches ,8x1 and 4x1 both connected on a 30M cable run but I never experienced any significant signal degradation..
They were both Eurostar.
Inline amplifiers work but you've got to have sufficient signal first.
They are meant for very long cable runs .. 70 to 100 metres that's when they start making sense
Current setup I can connect to 18 LNBs and it is possible to add to 64 LNBsI use the same DiSEqc Switch - ESD-81.
8x1 + 8x1 both connected to 4x1 which work as 22KHz switch. One of 8x1 diseqc connected on 35M Astel RG6 cable, and it work well.

my cable is the black type, bought in down-town Nairobi.i have always assumed it is rg6 as indicated.i don't know if it is fake rg6.where are those marked'astel'sold? on the net there are those called wf100&wf125 which are said to be the best.who knows if these are found locally?I use the same DiSEqc Switch - ESD-81.

Short circuit on cable, or, connecting cable on receiver when it is powered on. The first diseqc I bought and still using it since 2012i have ''fried' 2 eurostar diseq switches-which is why i dread using them.what are the absolute no-no's when it comes to using diseqc switches?
