African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Hi Kungu1,thanks for this useful information, can you track intelsat 22 using normal receivers? On lyngsat the tp is showing to be stream format.I thought this is for Terrestrial reception only please shed more light on this.

Good Afternoon Kibukila,

I also forgot to mention that you would require a receiver with Multi Input Stream capability to handle the Multistream 1&2 aspect of the frequency.

I have only come across 2 tuner cards that handle this modulation aspect.

1. TBS6925 DVB-S2 Professional TV Tuner PCIe Card

TBS6925 PCI-E DVB-S2 Professional TV Tuner card, built with the highest industry standard, with its rock reliability is the device that any personal enthusiasts or engineers in digital satellite TV industry dream to have.
The applying of an unique DVB-S2 demodulator chipset makes it possible to receive special streams broadcasted with ACM, VCM, Multi Input Stream, 16APSK,32APSK or Generic Stream Mode.
The built in hardware blind scan feature allows scanning of unknown satellite transponder with symbol rate as low as 200ksps, while most satellite receiving device can receive no less than 1Msps symbol rate. Such blind scan feature can be achieved by dedicated TBS tool or Crazyscan tool.

2.TBS5925 DVB-S2 TV Tuner USB

TBS5925 is a Professional level digital satellite TV Tuner box with USB2.0 connection to PC. TBS5925 supports not only normal DVB-S2/DVB-S QPSK, 8PSK which is supported by normal satellite receivers, but also ACM, VCM, Multi Input Stream, 16APSK and 32APSK mode, which most satellite receiving devices can't support. With use of dedicated TBS tools, those special streams can be captured. Both Windows BDA driver and Linux driver up to the latest kernel 3.X are provided.

The price of each goes for about 250 dollars.

You can purchase the tuner cards from either, Aliexpress,http://www.tbsdtv.com/ or http://www.buydvb.net/

Television sports rights business MP & Silva has trumped larger rivals Abu Dhabi Media (ADM) and Al Jazeera to win a three-year contract to distribute English Premier League football in the Middle East and North Africa.

The Premier League announced the agreement with the international media agency on Thursday, the latest in a series of rights deals expected to bring the League a total windfall of more than 5 billion pounds in 2013 through 2016.

ADM previously held the rights and had been expected to fight hard to retain them, since Premier League Champions Manchester City are owned by Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a member of Abu Dhabi's ruling family.

Qatar-based Al Jazeera has also been building up its sports broadcasting business, launching channels in France and the United States, and had been expecting to bid strongly for the Premier League rights in its home region.

MP & Silva CEO Andrea Radrizzani said the big two broadcasters did not bid as aggressively as he had feared.

"Our price was quite near what ADM paid in the past," Radrizzani told Reuters. "Even though the price was quite high, we thought it was killer content for the region."

The rights cover all 380 Premier League matches per season and extend across 23 countries from Iran to Morocco, taking in the United Arab Emirates and Egypt.

Having bought the rights, MP & Silva will seek to do its own deals with broadcasters in the region to show live action.

Viewers in some countries may not need to adjust their television sets to receive new channels because MP & Silva plans to negotiate with ADM and Al Jazeera.

The Premier League is the richest in the world in terms of TV revenue and outperforms Spanish and German rivals when it comes to selling overseas.

"There is a lot of appetite for football and the Premier League is the best league in the world," said Radrizzani.

"The format is very good for the region in terms of time slots at the weekend," he added.

Premier League Chief Executive, Richard Scudamore, said:

"We know MP & Silva well as they have acquired other Premier League rights for the 2013-2016 period, and in previous seasons. We are pleased to be working with them again and are confident that they will distribute all the best Barclays Premier League action in a comprehensive and innovative manner to fans in the Middle East and North Africa."

Andrea Radrizzani, MP & Silva Group CEO, said:

"We are extremely excited to extend the distribution of BPL to the MENA region. With this new addition, MP & Silva is now partnering with the Premier League in 40 countries across Asia, Pacific and MENA. It is a very distinctive and strategic partnership for us. We are glad that the Premier League recognises our leadership in the market and we are looking forward to using our network of broadcasters to improve audiences of top-class English football in MENA."

MP & Silva will be the exclusive distributor of the Barclays Premier League TV rights, mobile and digital media for the territories of Bahrain, Iraq, Iran, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Algeria, Chad, Libya, Morocco, Somalia, Tunisia, Egypt and Djibouti.

Thanks Kungu1 for the information on tuner cards looking forward to get more information on that.I have seen on your posts you always use Off set dishes in hunting most satellites, are they more effective compared to the prime focus ones.

@ Kungu it is Good to see you in your element. I am happy that you have started this thread. It is of paramount importance that we enlighten ourselves of what we can access in the world of satellite technology. Cheers bro

Good to be here, I think it being focused on our borders will get us at a better position and help us make a mark in the FTA fraternity. kudos 🙂

Good Morning Kibukila,

Offset dishes measuring same size as a prime focus are more effective when it come to KU Band.

From experience, a 1.2 meter offset is equivalent to a 1.8 meter prime focus.

A 1.6 meter offset will give you better results than a 2.4 meter prime focus.

I will post some of the fringe satellite i am getting using different measurements of offset dishes.
