Thanks for this massive info on what we can and what we cannot get in satellite world, its great and very helpful info indeed.
I want to ask you two things
1. Can I get DSTV package on 68.5 ? The south african package.
what size of dish and any extra efforts needed ?
2. Badr - is there a special LNB to make it work ?
minimum dish size ?
Thanks
Zenj
good day satemates, i am happy to be associated with u great minds in fta, especially Kungu, Chief Soita etc whom i 've following even during the time @ rdi. I am a newbie from zimbabwe hoping to gain more from this forum even though most of the beams are not same.
Good evening bro Kungu. I'm in Dar es salaam, currently am using a 1.8m prime focus dish with lnbs set to NSS 12 KU where i receive K24 chnl, and intelsat 906 C band for our local chnls. As you 've described above, its easy to nab Yahsat 1a with a 90cm offset dish in Kenya, and so seems with my 1.8m prime focus dish here in Tanzania could be possible. Now with the lnb on Nss 12 what should i exactly do catch that up. Should i move the lnb where it is now and move back a bit or should i raise the dish, which i must loose signal for the C band on intelsat 906. And should the Lnb be the HD ones? Or even the simple and cheap ones we use to catch Intelsat 20,or Nss 12 could be of use. Please can you tell me how to go? Thanks. Be blessed.
Good afternoon Zenj,
I can get DS*V package on intelsat 20, South African beam using a 1.6 meter offset dish.
My location Limuru which is about 30 Km from Nairobi.
Will soon test if active Ds*v decorder can access the channels (S A Channels) on intelsat 20.
For Badr 5 & 6 a 2.4 meter offset plus either Inverto ultra black single lnb or Samson or Eurostar gold quad.
guys anyone with biss keys for one africa tv on intel 906
I meant Garissa, there was a time when such things as satellite dishes were cheaper there.. wonder if it is still the case..among other stuff or the KDF operations messed up the supply..
Good Afternoon Mgjd
You will require a bigger prime focus dish (2.4 meter) or better still a large offset dish measuring from 1.8 meters upwards.
Yahsat 1A MENA West beam
In Nairobi/ Limuru we can get all the frequencies on Yahsat 1A MENA west beam using a 1.2 meter offset or 1.8 meter prime focus.
In Mombasa a forum member got Yahsat 1A frequency 12169 H DVB-S SR 27500 using a 1.6 meter offset dish.
Talking about Yahsat, today i abandoned NSS 12 which i use together with IS902, to hunt yahsat and to my delight it never failed me,i managed to pull down all channels on west beam but DMI Channels scratch a little. the good thing with this bird, is that most of the channels are in full HD quality.

For fringe satellites, it is better to have the main lnb on your setup locked on the fringe sat.
Use a KU prime focus lnb like fuji or stargold.
In Limuru/Kenya i can lock on all the frequencies on Yahsat 1A East beam using a 2.4 meter prime focus.

1.8 m prime focus
oh me too.its the path we vowed to take.
...and the more birds we get the ability to nab the more ASAS wrecks havoc to us!!!!!!
My fellow ASAS sufferers, toeni maoni, screen ndio hiyo sasa.
Samsung Electronics has taken the race for control of Kenya's high-end television segment a notch higher by launching the country's most expensive TV worth Sh3.7 million.
The 85-inch Ultra HD (High Definition) television beats Sony's latest offering on cost since the rival 84 inch set is retailing at Sh3.5 million - underlining the appetite for premium TVs in the local market with bigger screens and sharper resolution.
Earlier this year, Samsung Electronics released a 75-inch full HD TV at Sh1.06 million while Japan's Sharp unveiled an 80-inch model retailing at Sh1 million.
The set comes with an inbuilt camera and wireless Internet connectivity and users control channels through the touch screen as well control the TV volume by their voice.
