African Satellite World and Sat Gear

Good afternoon Zenj,

I can get DS*V package on intelsat 20, South African beam using a 1.6 meter offset dish.

My location Limuru which is about 30 Km from Nairobi.

Will soon test if active Ds*v decorder can access the channels (S A Channels) on intelsat 20.

For Badr 5 & 6 a 2.4 meter offset plus either Inverto ultra black single lnb or Samson or Eurostar gold quad.

Welcome on board

Good Afternoon Mgjd

You will require a bigger prime focus dish (2.4 meter) or better still a large offset dish measuring from 1.8 meters upwards.

Yahsat 1A MENA West beam

In Nairobi/ Limuru we can get all the frequencies on Yahsat 1A MENA west beam using a 1.2 meter offset or 1.8 meter prime focus.

In Mombasa a forum member got Yahsat 1A frequency 12169 H DVB-S SR 27500 using a 1.6 meter offset dish.

For fringe satellites, it is better to have the main lnb on your setup locked on the fringe sat.

Use a KU prime focus lnb like fuji or stargold.

In Limuru/Kenya i can lock on all the frequencies on Yahsat 1A East beam using a 2.4 meter prime focus.

I meant Garissa, there was a time when such things as satellite dishes were cheaper there.. wonder if it is still the case..among other stuff or the KDF operations messed up the supply..

I believe the south african beam is ment for the south D**V decorders in the south.....I had a dual view decorder from the south and it never worked had to dump it.......

My fellow ASAS sufferers, toeni maoni, screen ndio hiyo sasa.

Samsung Electronics has taken the race for control of Kenya's high-end television segment a notch higher by launching the country's most expensive TV worth Sh3.7 million.

The 85-inch Ultra HD (High Definition) television beats Sony's latest offering on cost since the rival 84 inch set is retailing at Sh3.5 million - underlining the appetite for premium TVs in the local market with bigger screens and sharper resolution.

Earlier this year, Samsung Electronics released a 75-inch full HD TV at Sh1.06 million while Japan's Sharp unveiled an 80-inch model retailing at Sh1 million.
The set comes with an inbuilt camera and wireless Internet connectivity and users control channels through the touch screen as well control the TV volume by their voice.

In matters pertinent to that, I am selling the kidney in my left foot to buy this TV. It can as well serve as a sub-wall of one will in my house!!! DM if interested.
