This project is the initiative that aim at providing education to the community basing most to the youths, about various diseases but with more focus on HIV/AIDS and Sexual Transmitted Diseases. It is the fact that Tanzanian society acquires such diseases because of lack of awareness about what they really are, how they can be transmitted from one person to another, how they can stay free from these diseases, and how they can actually affect an individual to the point of causing deaths. Iringa is one among the regions with high ranks of people living with HIV/AIDS and that has happened to stand for years. Working at ILULA Lutheran Hospital, one among the big hospitals here in Iringa lead to having enthusiasm in helping youths get education and start practicing safe behaviors.

Majority of youths in Tanzania barely know about HIV/AIDs, Family Planning methods and Sexual Transmitted Diseases. Moreover this has been contributed the most with numerous factors including traditional believes, false ideologies from the streets and so many other factors created by people. Therefore making people dreadful to use most of the family plan methods and treatments for protecting themselves from getting unplanned pregnancies and school drop outs and eventually remain to be a burden to the one side of the family.

Recently in Iringa region only, Kilolo has reported to have a red tag for having girls who gives birth at young age. This is the absolute result of the silence parents and guardians has chosen to embrace leaving youths with no options and no knowledge about their future and the changes supposed to happen in life.

from working with various programs and having discussions with youths it has actually shown lack of knowledge about this diseases has impacted negatively lives of many. More than 80% of young mothers we had discussions with showed not knowing anything about family planning methods, proper use of condoms and what was safe sex which actually proved that knowledge is critical to bring changes to these people.
The project will target the youths of the age between 15 to 35 believing this is the perfect age to start investing knowledge, as most of the youths curiosity gains power at this time. Growing they will stay away from unplanned pregnancies, HIV infections and Sexual Transmitted Diseases.

MODE OF KNOWLEDGE DELIVERY
Knowledge will be delivered through various ways including;
Conducting Sessions on different hotspots including schools, markets, institutions, colleges and universities where majority of the youths can be found.

Use of Social and Mass Medias, majority of youths are currently stuck on social medias and mas medias for entertainment, work and other issues, posting sessions will help reach more people and easily spread knowledge.

Apart from educating them, more emphasis on voluntary testing and provision of family planning tools eg. condoms will be adhered to make it significant and worth knowing what to do. Incase a client will be diagnosed positive there will be special system to link them to the health facilities to provide them with require managements according to their results. Coupons will be provided to all participants to welcome them to the health facilities for more services like family planning and testing for other sexual infections that couldn't be tested at the occasion.

Changing the perceptions of people concerning family planning and HIV testing wont be easy, and that proves a point that the project should be implemented for a long time with specific Target of number of people after every certain period of time. with goals and objectives being set they will be assed to see the success of the project.

This is sad if it is true. But have you ever considered that maybe these youths could know but are just arrogant and proudly ignorant?
