Air Tanzania was launched not out of necessity but to just to flex its muscle and try show Kenya that they too can own and operate an airline. Now reality is setting in that operating an airline isn't like running a BRT. The same fate will just hit Tanzanian SGR. Welcome to the world of losses.
A report of the year 2017/2018 Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) has been mention among the Tanzanian companies making huge losses as indicated in the table below.
ATCL is bankrupt, the organization is in debt up to the eyelids. Is also not clear whether the the planes are owned by ATCL or TGFL and leased to Air Tanzania just for business. Air Tanzania since it's conception has not gotten it right on the global Aviation stage for upto now. Maybe it's management or the model under which it operate is not conducive for its operations.
