Former Al Ahly goalkeeping coach, Tarek Soliman, defends the Red Devils’ head coach Pitso Mosimane amid his side’s poor run of form.
Mosimane has been very successful since joining Al Ahly, helping them win the treble by lifting the Egyptian Premier League, Egypt Cup and the CAF Champions League.
He also finished third in the Club World Cup after beating Copa Libertadores champions Palmeiras.
The South African, therefore, earned the respect of many in the Egyptian footballing scene but keeps being criticized for his side’s average performances.
Since their 3-1 win over a weak Al-Merrikh side, Al Ahly lost to Simba SC in the CAF Champions League, before earning an unconvincing 2-1 win over Tala’a El-Gaish.

The Reds had a chance to redeen themselves against AS Vita Club, but were held to a frustrating draw, putting them third in Group A.
Despite that, Soliman still believes in Mosimane, who proved on several occasions his worthiness of being in charge of Al Ahly
“Numbers don’t lie, I don’t know what people want from Mosimane. Yes, he came and the league was secured, but he performed well and won the CAF Champions League, playing a difficult final against Zamalek,” he told OnTime Sport TV.

“He also won the Egypt Cup. Yes, some performances were shaky, but the players were focused until the end of the season.
“Finally, he won the bronze medal at the FIFA Club World Cup, something the club failed to achieve since 2006,” he concluded.
Al Ahly’s next game in the Champions League will see them travel to face Vita Club in DR Congo on Tuesday, March 16; however, they will first play against rivals Ismaily on Wednesday, March 10.
