A 35-five-year-old man has been sentenced to death by the Nanyuki High Court for killing his wife.
The court was told how the man, Alexander Karue, killed his wife, Doris Thogori, on October 26, 2015 as their two children watched after she called him Kihii, an insult meaning uncircumcised.
Reading the verdict, Lady Justice Mary Kasango termed the incident as inhuman since the accused did it in the presence of their children.
The children who had witnessed the incident narrated in court how their parent’s quarrel began that morning, and later how they found their father holding a knife which he used to decapitate their mother as they watched in horror.
In his mitigation, Karue told the court that his wife fell on the knife he was holding, a statement which the judge refuted claiming that the doctor’s report showed that the woman’s injuries were not from an accident.
