Blogger Abraham Mutai has been released from CID headquarters after being grilled by officers for misuse of registered telecommunications equipment.
"After an intense interview at CID HEADQUARTERS Nairobi i walk out a free man.
Ready to speak out. As i [sic] said... Devolution must work," Mutai posted on his Twitter account
Mutai was arrested on Saturday in Mombasa for highlighting corruption in government.
The CID officers brought Mutai to Muthaiga police station before later transferring him to CID headquarters on Sunday.
Mutai was released on a personal free bond, and was instructed to report back to the CID on Monday for further questioning.
In a show of solidarity, other Twitter users castigated the arrest of the blogger in a recurrent trend challenging the county governments to put their houses in order rather than arrest Kenyans who highlight the shortcomings of the administrations.
The government has also come under fire by social media users for what they termed as curtailing freedom of expression. Last week Thursday The Star newspaper was threatened with withdrawal of licence, accreditation of its journalists for alleged gross coverage and dissemination of news.
