We are talking about that one 1000MW coal plant whose construction work hasn't yet begun, so it is also still on paper. Most of the power from Gibe will go to Kenya? Any evidence? Remember that power you import from Ethiopia will also go to Zambia and Tanzania through the Tanzania-Zambia-Kenya interconnect, so you can think of it as being 'in transit'.All those projects mentioned are on paper. The coal plants in Kenya are actually being built. Remember that most of the power output from Gibe I-III and GERD are to be exported primarily to Kenya.
And yes, 1,000 MW is a big deal. More than 25 % of homes can be connected to the grid. At current production of approximately 2300 MW ,it works out to about 1/3 of Power output. And at least 60% of yours,if reliable stats exist.
FYI Tanzania generates approximately 1800MW now. 1000MW is 56% to TZ and 45% to Kenya.
