Medical marijuana users would agree that the best no-nonsense painkiller out there is the daily usage of marijuana, and is quickly becoming hand over fist the highest demand medical product on the market. In fact, many researchers would agree that benefits of medical marijuana truly exist. Peer-reviewed research has found that marijuana exhibits a serious pain-halting effect that comes with zero adverse side effects. Despite this information, there is still one hurdle to overcome for the wildly growing consumer product in its ascent to becoming nationally acclaimed: the fact that many users, if it is obvious and openly used enough for the local police to seek out, can potentially be arrested and imprisoned given the ‘right’ circumstances.
Benefits of Medical Marijuana – Are they Being Overlooked?

Why is it that, on the national level, marijuana is becoming as highly regarded as an alternative painkiller with no associated side effects? More importantly, why is it still viewed by government officials as an illegal substance and a schedule one narcotic, over 40 years later? The federal government still claims, in defiance of the compiling scientific evidence showcasing the benefits of medical marijuana, that marijuana has ’no accepted medical use’. With painkillers ultimately leading to more deaths than heroin and cocaine combined, it is important to distinguish which ‘drugs’ is really more dangerous than the other.

Around 40 years later the nation is now progressing towards national acclaim; fifteen states and the District of Columbia, acting independently of one another, recognize the medical benefits of marijuana and all have laws regulating the herb as medication. However, until 2009 the Justice department allowed federal prosecutors to terminate any American citizen using the plant for medicinal purposes, acting against those laws set by the state. Even now in these states there are DEA raids happening to dispensaries and production industries alike – without any consideration of state laws. Of course, even if they are breaking the state law, the department states that since they are of federal jurisdiction the organization acts independently of the state. Ironically enough, the agency takes orders directly from the Department headquarters – just outside of Washington, D.C.

Though the benefits of medical marijuana are ignored by the federal government, many scientists seemingly agree that the benefits of medical marijuana heavily outweigh the risk when it comes to aiding patients. While anti-marijuana legislators typically state that smoke is technically harmful to your lungs, research has shown that marijuana may actually be beneficial to lung health. In addition, smoking marijuana is only one method of intake. Ingesting it through a wide, often healthy variety of foods as well as vaporizing the substance will provide the same effect as smoking without the health risks associated with smoking, while also omitting any chemical ingestion.

There are other uses for the hemp plant as well. Hemp oil has been used for centuries as a relaxing dermal medicine. The plant matter can also be reconstituted as paper from the pulp of the plant, which could potentially save tens of thousands of trees from being cut for the same use. So what reasons does the federal government have for sustaining such an overly generalized blanket national ban on the hemp plant? To this very day they have not provided any sort of details on why they persist. If you’re asking me, profiteering is all the motive they need.

As more individuals continue to fight for our freedoms, the benefits of medical marijuana and the suppression revolving around every aspect of the plant will be further recognized.

Is marijuana bad for you? Marijuana has the potential to get you high: most people know this. And a growing number of people are becoming aware of the medicinal properties of this plant. But, the compounds that make marijuana such a healer are largely unknown to the general public. These compounds won’t get you high, when separated from the psychoactive ingredient known as THC, but they are still classified as being highly dangerous and addictive by the U.S. government.

Cannabidiol (CBD), Cannabinol (CBN), Cannabichromene (CBC), Cannabigerol (CBG), and Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) are all active, organic compounds in the marijuana plant—and each offers unique benefits.
Is Marijuana Bad for You?

CBD or cannabidiol is said to be the most-studied cannabinoid. It has potentially therapeutic effects on conditions like diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, nausea, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s. Martin Lee, of the non-profit group Project CBD, calls cannabidiol the “Cinderella molecule” and the “little substance that could.”

Cannabinol (CBN) is available in marijuana in very small quantities. It is far less researched than CBD, but is said to induce sleep, ease pain and spasticity, increase appetite, reduce the spread of MRSA, and delay the symptoms of Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS).

Cannabichromene (CBC) has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and analgesic benefits. It may “promote anti-cancer activity in malignant cell lines” as well. This also is a relatively under-researched compound.

The other compounds of marijuana show similarly impressive potential benefits and uses. The wealth of information on this compounds is growing each day, though scientists sometimes struggle for funding in the face of the federal government who is committed to criminalizing this healthful plant.

Marijuana’s classification under the Controlled Substances Act is as a Schedule I substance. This places it on the same level as heroin. According to the government, these drugs have no medical uses and high potential for abuse and addiction. Marijuana is considered a very dangerous drug by the government, despite all of the research to the contrary.

But of course marijuana does have medicinal uses. In one case, a young boy’s father actually says marijuana oil is what made his son beat cancer. While the story isn’t recent, it is one that everyone should hear about.

Is marijuana bad for you? Simply recognizing that marijuana compounds have some medical use would reduce the plant from a Schedule I drug to another classification, allowing the medical marijuana trade to flourish freely in the states where voters have worked so hard to get those laws in place. But, the feds refuse to budge, white-knuckling their Drug War in the face of the American people who have spoken out on several occasions in opposition, and in the face of science which clearly says this plant has real, medical applications.

Does it mean that one time Cannabis sativa will be legalized whether we like or not? If what is scientifically featuring in medical periodicals is right there is no need of illegalizing Cannabis. If I were to decide, tobacco would go first , the alcohol and other dangerous stuff we consume legally everywhere everyday.

Bob Marley has always defended this often maligned herb. He equated condemnation of this natural herb with blasphemy. How could a plant created by God be made illegal by humans? "You mean they can tell God that it's not legal?" he once asked a Canadian journalist. If growing cannabis is to be a crime then by man's laws God who made all plants was a criminal too. Bob was not surprized that people who smoke the weed were persecuted by "Babylon", the ruling system, reminding people: "Them crucify Christ, remember?

MARIJUANA SIDE EFFECTS & SAFETY

The cannabinoid, dronabinol, which is found in marijuana, is LIKELY SAFE when taken by mouth appropriately as a prescription medication. Dronabinol (Marinol) is an FDA-approved prescription product.

Marijuana is POSSIBLY UNSAFE when it is taken by mouth or smoked. It is classified as an illegal substance.

Use of marijuana can cause dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, dry or red eyes, heart and blood pressure problems, lung problems, impaired mental functioning, headache, dizziness, numbness, panic reactions, hallucinations, flashbacks, depression, and sexual problems.

Special Precautions & Warnings:

Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Marijuana is UNSAFE when taken by mouth or smoked during pregnancy. Marijuana passes through the placenta and can slow the growth of the fetus. Marijuana use during pregnancy is also associated with childhood leukemia. Using marijuana, either by mouth or by inhalation isLIKELY UNSAFE during breast-feeding. The dronabinol (THC) in marijuana passes into breast milk.

Heart disease: Marijuana might cause rapid heartbeat and short-term high blood pressure.

A weakened immune system: Cannabinoids in marijuana can weaken the immune system, which might make it more difficult for the body to fight infections.

Lung diseases: Long-term use of marijuana can make lung problems worse. Regular, long-term marijuana use has been associated with several cases of an unusual type of emphysema, a lung disease.

Seizure disorders: Marijuana might make seizure disorders worse in some people; in other people it might help to control seizures.

Surgery: Marijuana affects the central nervous system. It might slow the central nervous system too much when combined with anesthesia and other medications during and after surgery. Stop using marijuana at least 2 weeks before a scheduled surgery.

sexual problems, vomiting, diziness hizi tatu si kweli bana afu hallucination hiyo hata mtu wa kawaida anaweza akawa nayo, mbona pombe, sigara etc zinahasara kubwa sana kwa watu lkn haziwi haramu, afu jiulize kwann wanakata ushuru wa rizla.

Unahitaji kufanya research nyingi, bado umefungwa macho na medias. Njoo na tafiti za kuanzia 2009 utaona unavyopingwa.

KUNA TOFAUTI KATI YA MYTH NA TRUTH.

How come marijuana ilete kansa wakati wakati inatibu kansa?

Kwenye sayansi hakuna propaganda.

How come mmea uwe illegal? Aliuumba nani? kama ulikwepo tangu biblical times kwanini sasa uonekane mbaya?

Dem wanna stop I and I from takin herb, Never will I

Mkuu Apollo Nyie mnayotumia hii Bangi mna haki ya kuihalalisha huku nilipo ninaye rafiki yangu ana umri wa miaka 57 alitumia hiyo Bangi karibu miaka 30 sasa ana matatizo ya Ugonjwa wa kusahau na ana maradhi ya kifua kisicho pona chronic cough kamaliza Ma dawa hospitali hajapona mpaka sasa wewe utaniambia kitu gani mpaka nikuelewe mimi?unataka kuipasisha Bangi ivutwe na kila mtu?Hicho kitu hakitowezekana ukitaka vuta kivyako tena nyumbani kwako sio nje ya nyumba utakamatwa na Polisi.

Mkuu, hebu muulize alikuwa anaitumiaje?

Bangi inaathiri vipi ubongo?

[h=1]10 Facts About Marijuana[/h] Marijuana is a plant containing a psychoactive chemical, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), in its leaves, buds and flowers. Marijuana is the most commonly used illicit drug, with forty-two percent of American adults reporting that they have used it.
Despite the fact that marijuana's effects are less harmful than those of most other drugs, including alcohol and tobacco, it is the most common drug that people are arrested for possessing. U.S. marijuana policy is unique among American criminal laws in being enforced so widely and harshly, yet deemed unnecessary by such a substantial portion of the population.
[h=2]Fact #1: Most marijuana users never use any other illicit drug. [/h] Marijuana does not cause people to use hard drugs. Marijuana is the most popular illegal drug in the United States today. Therefore, people who have used less popular drugs such as heroin, cocaine, and LSD, are likely to have also used marijuana. Most marijuana users never use any other illegal drug and the vast majority of those who do try another drug never become addicted or go on to have associated problems. Indeed, for the large majority of people, marijuana is a terminus rather than a so-called gateway drug.[SUP][1][/SUP]
[h=2]Fact #2: Most people who use marijuana do so occasionally. Increasing admissions for treatment do not reflect increasing rates of clinical dependence.[/h] According to a federal Institute of Medicine study in 1999, fewer than 10 percent of those who try marijuana ever meet the clinical criteria for dependence, while 32 percent of tobacco users and 15 percent of alcohol users do. According to federal data, marijuana treatment admissions referred by the criminal justice system rose from 48 percent in 1992 to 58 percent in 2006. Just 45 percent of marijuana admissions met the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders criteria for marijuana dependence. More than a third hadn't used marijuana in the 30 days prior to admission for treatment.[SUP][2][/SUP]
[h=2]Fact #3: Claims about increases in marijuana potency are vastly overstated. In addition, potency is not related to risk of dependence or health impacts. [/h] Although marijuana potency may have increased somewhat in recent decades, claims about enormous increases in potency are vastly overstated and not supported by evidence. Nonetheless, potency is not related to risks of dependence or health impacts. According to the federal government's own data, the average THC in domestically grown marijuana – which comprises the bulk of the US market – is less than 5 percent, a figure that has remained unchanged for nearly a decade. In the 1980s, by comparison, the THC content averaged around 3 percent. Regardless of potency, THC is virtually non-toxic to healthy cells or organs, and is incapable of causing a fatal overdose. Currently, doctors may legally prescribe Marinol, an FDA-approved pill that contains 100 percent THC. The Food and Drug Administration found THC to be safe and effective for the treatment of nausea, vomiting, and wasting diseases. When consumers encounter unusually strong varieties of marijuana, they adjust their use accordingly and smoke less.[SUP][3][/SUP]
[h=2]Fact #4: Marijuana has not been shown to cause mental illness.[/h] Some effects of marijuana ingestion may include feelings of panic, anxiety, and paranoia. Such experiences can be frightening, but the effects are temporary.
That said, none of this is to suggest that there may not be some correlation (but not causation) between marijuana use and certain psychiatric ailments. Marijuana use can correlate with mental illness for many reasons. People often turn to the alleviating effects of marijuana to treat symptoms of distress. One study demonstrated that psychotic symptoms predict later use of marijuana, suggesting that people might turn to the plant for help rather than become ill after use.[SUP][4][/SUP]
[h=2]Fact #5: Marijuana use has not been shown to increase risk of cancer.[/h] Several longitudinal studies have established that even long-term use of marijuana (via smoking) in humans is not associated with elevated cancer risk, including tobacco-related cancers or with cancer of the following sites: colorectal, lung, melanoma, prostate, breast, cervix. A more recent (2009) population-based case-control study found that moderate marijuana smoking over a 20 year period was associated with reduced risk of head and neck cancer (See Liang et al). And a 5-year-long population-based case control study found even long-term heavy marijuana smoking was not associated with lung cancer or UAT (upper aerodigestive tract) cancers.[SUP][5][/SUP]
[h=2]Fact #6: Marijuana has been proven helpful for treating the symptoms of a variety of medical conditions.[/h] Marijuana has been shown to be effective in reducing the nausea induced by cancer chemotherapy, stimulating appetite in AIDS patients, and reducing intraocular pressure in people with glaucoma. There is also appreciable evidence that marijuana reduces muscle spasticity in patients with neurological disorders. A synthetic capsule is available by prescription, but it is not as effective as smoked marijuana for many patients. Learn more about medical marijuana. [SUP][6][/SUP]
[h=2]Fact #7: Marijuana use rates in the Netherlands are similar to those in the U.S. despite very different policies.[/h] The Netherlands' drug policy is one of the most nonpunitive in Europe. For more than twenty years, Dutch citizens over age eighteen have been permitted to buy and use cannabis (marijuana and hashish) in government-regulated coffee shops. This policy has not resulted in dramatically escalating marijuana use. For most age groups, rates of marijuana use in the Netherlands are similar to those in the United States. However, for young adolescents, rates of marijuana use are lower in the Netherlands than in the United States. The Dutch government occasionally revises existing marijuana policy, but it remains committed to decriminalization.[SUP][7][/SUP]
[h=2]Fact #8: Marijuana has not been shown to cause long-term cognitive impairment. [/h] The short-term effects of marijuana include immediate, temporary changes in thoughts, perceptions, and information processing. The cognitive process most clearly affected by marijuana is short-term memory. In laboratory studies, subjects under the influence of marijuana have no trouble remembering things they learned previously. However, they display diminished capacity to learn and recall new information. This diminishment only lasts for the duration of the intoxication. There is no convincing evidence that heavy long-term marijuana use permanently impairs memory or other cognitive functions.[SUP][8][/SUP]
[h=2]Fact #9: There is no compelling evidence that marijuana contributes substantially to traffic accidents and fatalities. [/h] At some doses, marijuana affects perception and psychomotor performance – changes which could impair driving ability. However, in driving studies, marijuana produces little or no car-handling impairment – consistently less than produced by low to moderate doses of alcohol and many legal medications. In contrast to alcohol, which tends to increase risky driving practices, marijuana tends to make subjects more cautious. Surveys of fatally injured drivers show that when THC is detected in the blood, alcohol is almost always detected as well. For some individuals, marijuana may play a role in bad driving. The overall rate of highway accidents appears not to be significantly affected by marijuana's widespread use in society.[SUP][9][/SUP]

[h=2]Fact #10: More than 800,000 people are arrested for marijuana each year, the vast majority of them for simple possession.[/h] Police prosecuted 858,408 persons for marijuana violations in 2009, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's annual Uniform Crime Report. Marijuana arrests now comprise more than one-half (approximately 52 percent) of all drug arrests reported in the United States. A decade ago, marijuana arrests comprised just 44 percent of all drug arrests. Approximately 46 percent of all drug prosecutions nationwide are for marijuana possession. Of those charged with marijuana violations, approximately 88 percent (758,593 Americans) were charged with possession only. The remaining 99,815 individuals were charged with "sale/manufacture," a category that includes virtually all cultivation offenses.[SUP][10][/SUP]
