Benjamin Mkapa Hospital is established under the Government Notice No.453 of 2015 which was gazetted by the government on 16th October, 2015 after its inauguration on 13th October,
2015.

The establishment of this hospital emanates from the intention of 4th term President of United Republic of Tanzania Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete to have a hi-tech and modern diagnostic treatment center in Tanzania by 2015 aiming at reducing government burden resulting from referring patients abroad.

The hospital provides specialized and supers-specialized services to both local and international patients. At this moment the Hospital provides a broad range of health services including Renal Transplant, Bone Marrow Transplant, interventional Cardiology& Open- Heart surgery, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, ENT, Urology, interventional Radiology, Oncology Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care Unit, Imaging (Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computerized Tomography Scan (CT scan), Angiography, Cath-Lab, Laboratory
Services, General Surgical Services and Radiotherapy Services.

MEDICAL SPECIALISTS – Contract (09 Posts)

  • Positions Available:
    • Neurophysician – 1

1.1 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Providing routine specialized services for in-patients and outpatients.
  • Supervising ward rounds and advising on appropriate medication.
  • Participating in the training of staff.
  • Planning, supervising, and evaluating health services in your field.
  • Preparing periodic reports regarding services.
  • Carrying out research on health services and publishing results for other experts.
  • Supervising junior staff and providing technical advice.
  • Planning and supervising outreach programs.

2. RADIOLOGISTS – Contract (01 Post)

2.1 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carrying out various x-ray examinations.
  • Maintaining radiology equipment and records.
  • Upkeeping and sterilizing radiology instruments.
  • Monitoring safety use of radiation and chemicals.
  • Reviewing and submitting research results for health planning.
  • Supervising and implementing radiology quality control systems.
  • Coordinating activities in the radiology unit.
  • Ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and hospital business processes.
  • Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.

2.2 Qualifications and Experience

3. PUBLIC HEALTH SPECIALISTS/EPIDEMIOLOGIST – Contract (02 Posts)

3.1 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and update the Hospital research policy.
  • Develop, review, and update the Hospital research code of conduct and ethics.
  • Provide information on potential sources of research funding.
  • Regularly provide the Hospital Research Bulletin.
  • Solicit research funds.
  • Develop consultancy guidelines for the hospital.
  • Establish and maintain research links.
  • Administer research projects.
  • Develop research infrastructure.
  • Enhance capacity to conduct and disseminate research findings.

3.2 Qualifications and Experience

4. AUDIOLOGIST II – Contract (01 Post)

4.1 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out audiometric therapy for patients with audio pathology.
  • Maintain accurate records of audiometric services provided.
  • Compile case reports for monitoring treatment progress.
  • Take care of equipment and report malfunctions.
  • Interview relatives to gather information for patient treatment.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to subordinates.

4.2 Qualifications and Experience

  • Doctor of Medicine Degree in Audiology or an equivalent qualification.

5.1 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out speech therapy on patients with speech pathology.

10. CRITICAL CARE - 2 Posts

10.1 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Head the Critical Care Section and manage both capital and human resources.
  • Coordinate the provision of Critical Care services.
  • Interpret and implement Critical Care policies.
  • Set performance targets for all staff and ensure job plans are in place.
  • Support staff, students, and researchers from training or research institutions.
  • Administer Critical Care ethics and performance.
  • Develop and implement standardized policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Manage nursing Critical Care services in the hospital.
  • Uphold strong emphasis on quality, infection control, ethics, and governance.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of Critical Care guidelines.

10.2 Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Medicine with specialization in a relevant medical field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in medical services in a reputable institution.
  • Registration with the relevant professional board.
  • A Super Specialization Certificate or PhD will be an added advantage.

11. MEDICAL ATTENDANTS II - 04 Posts

11.1 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform general cleaning of wards and their surroundings.
  • Provide bed baths to bedridden patients.
  • Handle bedpans and urinal bottles.
  • Feed patients.
  • Collect patients' linen for laundry services.
  • Send patients for X-rays.
  • Send specimens to laboratories and collect results.

11.2 Qualifications and Experience

  • Form IV/VI Certificate and a one-year Certificate in a health-related field from a recognized institution.

12. PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNICIANS II - 05 Posts

12.1 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Determine, prepare, and order drugs and treatment instruments.
  • Store and dispense drugs and treatment instruments as per prescription to patients and staff.
  • Compound/Manufacture medicines.
  • Educate the public and patients on proper use of medicines.
  • Inspect drugs and treatment instruments.
  • Provide information on reactions resulting from the use of medicines.
  • Prepare reports on the use of drugs and treatment instruments.

13.1 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests and examinations (Haematology, Parasitology, Microbiology, Immunology, Blood Group Serology, Entomology, Clinical Chemistry, and Histopathology) and laboratory research.
  • Examine and transfer laboratory samples for further examinations.

  • Ensuring regular service of motor pumps and control panels in pumping stations.

21.1 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducting major ward rounds to assess patient progress.
  • Collecting data for exempted patients and other cases requiring institutional support.
  • Sorting and preparing exemption lists for patients needing assistance.
  • Providing counseling services under supervision.

  • Providing coaching services to students at the Benjamin Mkapa Institute of Health and Allied Sciences.

21.2 Qualifications and Experience

  • Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Education Psychology, General Psychology, Counseling and Guidance, or a related field from a reputable institution.

22. MEDICAL OXYGEN PLANT OPERATOR - 01 POST​

22.1 Duties and Responsibilities

  • Filling medical oxygen cylinders.
  • Distributing oxygen cylinders to wards.
  • Loading cylinders for transport.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
22.2 Qualifications and Experience

  • Holder of Form IV Certificate.
