BORIS JOHNSON ANNOUNCES CLOSURE OF UK SCHOOLS IN WAKE
The number of people who have died in the UK after testing positive for coronavirus has risen to 137 - with one in the North East.
Officials revealed the figure on Thursday and one of those was in the care of the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
It comes after confirmation that emergency legislation to tackle the coronavirus outbreak will be published in Parliament after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the closure of schoolsand cancellation of exams.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock will table the Emergency Coronavirus Bill setting out measures aimed at slowing the spread and supporting the NHS and workers in the Commons on Thursday.
