Registration for a business name in Tanzania has now been reduced to only eight hours, a major drop from the previous seven working days, Business Registration and Licensing Agency (BRELA) announced yesterday.
Making the announcement yesterday in Dar es Salaam, BRELA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Registrar of Companies, Frank Kanyusi said the time reduction will contribute immensely to creating conducive business environment in the country. "Business name registration is done electronically via our online Registration Management System it is easy and efficient," he said.
"We are already witnessing an increase of people coming for registration," he remarked noting that having registered business names will help formalize many businesses.
"Many businesses will be legally known and thus the tax base will be broadened," he said. "With the registration, business owners will also be recognized by financial institutions and can easily access loans," he added.
"People should not be hoodwinked by middlemen who pretend to assist them," he cautioned.
Tanzania has been working hard to make sure that it improves its business environment to attract investors from within the country and abroad. Speeding up the registration of business names is a key component that reflects how easily one can now start a business in the country.
