Bunge la Kenya limepiga kura ya kuridhia Prof. Kithure Kindiki kuwa Naibu Rais ambapo kwa kura 236 huku kukiwa hakuna iliyoharibika.

Baada ya hatua hiyo, kinachofuata ni Prof. Kindiki kuapishwa na kuwa rasmi Naibu Rais wa Rais William Ruto.

Atakapoapishwa atachukua nafasi ya Rigathi Gachagua ambaye ameondolewa madarakani jana Oktoba 17, 2024.

Parliament approves Kindiki's appointment as Deputy President, set to be sworn in

The National Assembly has approved the nomination of Prof. Kithure Kindiki as Deputy President.

Kindiki’s nomination was overwhelmingly supported by a majority of 236 MPs, with no legislator opposing or abstaining.

Following the approval by the National Assembly, President William Ruto will officially appoint Kindiki as deputy president after which he will take the oath of office.

Upon being sworn in, Kindiki takes over as the country's second in command, replacing former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was impeached by Parliament.

Proffessor Kindiki was born and raised in Tharaka Nithi County on July 17, 1972, the CS revealed that his father was the only child to survive in a family of 14.


Mr Daniel Kindiki, now a Reverend, grew up in a very humble background, Prof Kindiki said.
“Because of the challenges he faced while growing up, he sought refuge in Seikuru, Kitui, where he dedicated his life to God,” the CS revealed.

He later returned to Tharaka Nithi in 1959, working as a farm labourer for the Methodist Church of Kenya.
“He stayed in the church and rose to become a Reverend. We were brought up in the church and our foundation is solidly Christian”. Proffessor Kindiki said
