You would expect CCM to know better and restrain herself from forced child labour, non payment of such a service and distracting those poor toddlers from focusing on their studies.
Being an election year we understand that CCM's political fortunes are dwindling at an alarming rate and feigning a birthday that coincides with an election year may help stroke some lost emotions. But that act of desperation also reveal how insecure and helpless CCM has turned out to be.
The whole celebratory occasion reminds us that CCM gurus are still entrapped in one party amnesia, and have failed to evolve with times. First and foremost accessing the services of toddlers from families of poor background for three months to prepare to grace CCM at 38 has tilted the election pendulum to their favour, and the election has lost all the cloak of a free and fair election.
Toddlers were encouraged to hold toy guns typifying CCM stay in power overly relies upon use of gratuitous force and abuse of the poor sections of our society. Most of these toddlers were compelled to sacrifice three months of studies to learn the ABCs of military parade and its mock aggro.
With ESCROW still fresh in our minds and with many scandals still rearing their ugliest heads, we keep wondering how much of that bootleg has funded this stupendous gala.
We may never know how these power entrapments were oiled given the arcane ways this government is being run. So it is fair to conclude that the election commission and registrar of political parties are so impotent that they are silent in investigating and cracking the whip over conspicuous abuse of public office.
CCM and the government seems synonymous and finer separation of powers appear fuzzier and fuzzier reducing the constitutional provisions of multiparty politics into desultory.
So this election funded by unpaid child labour, official bootleg and misappropriation of public funds have deceitfully conspired to unlevel the election terrain in favour of the ruling party. This is just a curtain raiser where unfair media access and vote rigging will ensure that these preliminary toils were not in vain.
