What is CD4? : Another name for a "helper" T-cell, a type of white blood cell. A measurement of the strength of your immune system. The higher your CD4 cell count, the stronger your immune system. These cells protect your body from germs that can cause infections and diseases.

What is Hb: haemoglobin? : The part of the red blood cells that carries oxygen to the cells from the lungs and carbon dioxide away from the cells to the lungs.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the efficacy of the Lingzhi mushrooms in the treatment of low immunity patients: (1) the effect of Lingzhi treatment on CD4 count, haemoglobin (HB) and some clinical opportunistic infections, and general well being of low immunity patients; and (2) the comparative efficacy of ARV (anti-retroviral) drugs alone, and in combination with Lingzhi mushrooms3.

METHOD: This project is supported by UNDP/UNOPS/UNAIDS (United Nation) and is being conducted in 7 sites with around 50 patients each across Swaziland, Tanzania and Zambia. The results of one site in Tanzania are reported here. Clinical testing trials comprise of three sets of patients, who had CD4 counts between 100 and 200 at registration, in each site: one on ARV only; the second on ARV in combination with Lingzhi; and the third on Lingzhi only. In all cases, dosages of Lingzhi are 6-9 x 120mg capsules per day.

RESULT: The studies are still progressing; however there is evidence that low immunity associated oral thrush infections healed within 3 to 7 days of taking Lingzhi. Patients’ progress, after three months, in one site was released from Tanzania, see following Table. In addition, patients’ skin complexion improved, their warts disappeared, and patients themselves personally reported a significant health improvement.

CONCLUSION: Lingzhi has been demonstrated to be effective in enhancing the immuno-response. Our preliminary clinical testing trials of Ganoderma lucidum on low immunity patients have generated very intriguing results, in terms of: stimulating body weight increases of the treated patients; increases in CD4 counts, increases in haemoglobin levels; enhanced smoothness of the skin of the patients; and improvements in general body fitness. However, Ganoderma ( Lingzhi) products should be considered as dietary supplements / nutriceuticals rather than drugs for low immunity patients in Africa.

By using Lingzhi to increase the CD4 cell count, the stronger your immune system. These cells protect your body from germs that can cause infections and diseases. More patients should by using as a support medicine.
