The Jubilee Alliance has said the National Rainbow Coalition (Narc) party leader Charity Ngilu will not participate in its presidential primaries.
Party officials said that a new pre-election coalition could not be formed as the December 4 deadline had passed.
United Republican Party (URP) chairman Francis Kaparo said the legal window of forming pre-election coalitions had passed but added that their agreement allows for the accommodation of other parties.
He said Ms Ngilu had not talked to them officially adding that discussions will be based on a post-election coalition. Ms Ngilu had on Monday indicated that she wants to rejoin the Jubilee Alliance and would participate in the presidential nominations.
"We have not closed the door and we have room to accommodate all those who work with other until after the elections. When she (Ms Ngilu) comes, we will discuss and see how we can work together especially after the elections," Mr Kaparo said.
He was speaking at the Jacaranda hotel where he was joined by United Democratic Forum (UDF) chairman Hassan Osman and The National Alliance's (TNA) Johnson Sakaja.
The parties' chairmen came out to reassure their supporters that the formula was being worked on and that they would announce it soon.
"We are committed to ensuring that the presidential candidate of the Jubilee Coalition will be nominated through a process that will be free, fair, inclusive and democratic.
"We assure Kenyans that this process will be completed within the time stipulated in our agreement and that each party is committed to the process," Mr Osman read from the statement.
According to the agreement signed by the three parties, Mr Kenyatta and Mr Mudavadi are to battle it out for the coalition's presidential ticket while Mr Ruto will be the running-mate. Whoever loses the presidential nomination will be the Leader of Majority Designate hoping that the coalition has the majority of MPs in the next Parliament.
TNA and URP made an initial pact that had Mr Kenyatta as the presidential nominee and Eldoret North MP William Ruto as running-mate before they were joined by UDF.
Their opponents under the Coalition for Reform and Democracy (CORD) have agreed to pick the candidate from either Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) or Wiper Democratic Movement through consultation and consensus.
ODM's flag-bearer is Prime Minister Raila Odinga while Wiper's presidential nominee is Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka.
