- Corrects Bank Origin To Tanzania

FRANKFURT (MNI) – The Cypriot government has managed to push back the threat of near-term insolvency thanks to the purchase of E240 million in government bonds by a bank in Tanzania, the German daily Die Welt reports.

According to the newspaper, the bonds were initially to be repaid by November 4, which would have left the Cypriot government insolvent before year-end. However, the Federal Bank of the Middle East has renewed the bonds, thus allowing the government to push back repayment, Die Welt said.

As the Tanzanian financial institution seeking a banking license to operation in Cyprus and likely to get it, the opposition is concerned. “We hope that the banking license was not a condition for the government bonds to be renewed,” opposition leader Averof Neophytou was quoted as saying.

Heavy exposure to the Greek banking system, as well as severe damage to Cyprus’ biggest power plant last year, has left the Cypriot government with a huge financial burden and requesting assistance from a number of sources,
including Russia and the European bailout fund.

While Cyprus has managed to obtain some funds from Russia, a decision regarding a European bailout is unlikely before next year, a German Finance Ministry spokesperson said on Monday.

Speaking at a regular government press conference in Berlin, ministry spokesperson Martin Kotthaus noted that talks with Cyprus were progressing at a rather moderate speed, which means “a completion before the year 2013
will likely be difficult.”

chief..am worried if we really have a stake at our upper hand when it comes to doin business with the cypriot government.... nahisi kama tumetolewa kafara hasa baada ya wa-cypruss hao kukosa ujanja huko ulaya....IMEKULA KWETU BIG TYME.

This freedom of Tanzanian commercial banks engaging in foreign exchange dealings should be controlled by BoT. You cannot have one of the pourest countries in the word placing its forex to rescue Cyprus !!!!!!!!!!!!. Absurdities never lack doers.

If BoT has reserves it should invest them in foreign government guaranteed stocks sure to earn interest or in prime bank deposits in financial centres like New York, London etc.

In actual fact I beg to differ.
The situation can be as easy as this.....
The bonds right now are of very little value, thus one can buy them , and a lot of them, for as little funds as one cn possibly get.
Analogies?......
Well , think of buying new crop at harvest time, whe everybody is harvesting.
Keep the crop and sell during the dry season.

Thats why I say, when nobody is buying the Cypriot Bonds, its time to buy, and this is what speculative business is all about.
Tanzanians should change and notice business oppurtunities in other countries.

Again I repeat, EUROPE IS FOR SALE.

If Tanzanian Bank is private and they have enough cash to meet BOT requirement we should let them conduct their business freely. The Government should not be in private business!!

This is good news for Kikwete to go around thumb up saying his begging hunk is so rich that it can save a European country. Again, if this adds up why should we languish in abject poverty while others are using our money to survive? As I have always maintained, our problem is not financial poverty but mental poverty. If this is true then you can see what I mean. Uchumi tunao lakini tunaukalia once Mwal. Nyerere said.

Controlled by BoT ??
BoT is like a spoil egg, very good looking on the outside, but inside it is horribly stinking rotten !!
The said BoT could not control its own money under EPA !!
Guys, we are in a very strange country !!
