Even before they have been sworn in, some of the newly elected MPs were anxious to get a feel of their new work station. They have been trooping to Parliament excited at the prospect but for some of them, the excitement has come with its own setbacks. The parliamentary security has been demanding proof of identity —especially of those MPs who will be making their political debut. Those who do not have their identity cards are being turned away. The names of the newly elected members were recently published by the IEBC.

One of the security personnel attached to the Prime Minister Raila Odinga security detail may be have gone a hard too far in protecting his charge. The bodyguard, who is known for his overzealous duty, was quite discourteous to several newly elected MPs who had gone to the Wilson Airport on Monday evening to receive the PM who was returning to the city after a rally in Mombasa. The man grabbed one of the new ODM MPs and shoved him away from the door of the VIP lounge telling him he would not allow anyone into the lounge to speak to the PM.

Luhya professionals from Trans-Nzoia and Bungoma counties are puzzled and angry at the manner in which the New Ford Kenya officials led by party boss Eugene Wamalwa are behaving. A top member of the Luhya council of elders on Tuesday evening described Eugene's behavior as "funny and inconsistent with the mood of the community." The man, who has been nominated to the Senate by one of the parties in the Cord alliance described the minister's behavior as "cheap" especially coming soon after the Jubilee Alliance's claim of 'evil spirits' being responsible for the December fiasco involving Musalia Mudavadi.
