Nairobi terminal masaa kabla kupanda hua hivi

According to the ESIA report the short term (2025-2030) prediction of the SGR we are supposed to be having the equivalent of 26 trains on the track ... So doing 12 trains in 2019 when in 2018 we were doing 6-8 trains a day means we are well oncourse ....

The good thing about the number of trains is if they add more trains it means they have found more cargo to carry on a regular basis.. they have not yet started carrying cars and clicker for cement .... The clicker alone is about 5 million tonnes a year... Na bado hatujafika Kisumu!

So instead of mining our own clinker we start importing so that SGR has cargo😂😂😉😉

We have always had Cement companies that imported the product even before the SGR so your point doesn't make sense, Clinker is an immportant product in the grinding of limestone to make Cement, The process of making clinker is a very expensive and energy intensive procedure.... it inlvolves heating of products up to 1,500 degree celcius and lowering to 800degrees and maintaining that at constant for a while..

The clinker manufacturing process

ARM which operates in both Tz and Kenya tried to manufature its own clinker and three years later they are now bankrupt

Kenya's ARM Cement says clinker plant will boost margins
3 years later Troubled ARM Cement's half-year net loss widens 65pc

But dont worry, There is a dedicated $280m Clinker factory that is being built in Kajiado that will supply every cement company in Kenya, It will still need the SGR to transport to Nairobi and to Mombasa where most of the cement factories are located.. The construction is expected to be completed this year.. The plant will have its own 15 Mega Watt power plant to minimise the energy consumption cost.

New Sh28Bn cement clinker plant in Kajiado to create 700 jobs
February 7, 2018
By PSCU, KAJIADO, Kenya, Feb 7 – President Uhuru Kenyatta Wednesday inaugurated a new cement clinker plant, underscoring the focus on promoting the manufacturing sector as a key plank of his Big Four Agenda that will create employment for young people.
The National Cement Company invested $280 million to build the clinker and 15 Mega Watt power plant located between Merrueshi and Mbirikani in Kajiado County.
The clinker plant, with a capacity of manufacturing 1.2 million metric tonnes per year, is set to employ 700 directly and provide thousands more jobs indirectly in a move that supports the government’s effort to create quality jobs for Kenyans through expansion of the manufacturing sector.
President Kenyatta said he was pleased that the plant, the latest and largest clinker plant in the region that will be making the vital ingredient in cement production, is set to increase its employment capacity to 7,000 direct jobs by 2019

ARM failed due to martket contraction after Tz stopped importing cement..There is no Rail to kajiado, Most cement companies are in athiriver, none is in nairobi. Bamburi which is in mombasa has enough clinker and does not import..
SGR is a white elephant.

Mje Tz mpate somo, hiyo process unayodai ni expensive tuna iona ndogo. Clinker zipo mpaka tume discourage importation yake.

ARM had a 1.5 Million tonnes a year manufacturing plant in Tanga which was even bigger than the one they had in kenya! they did not import cement to Tz, they manufatured it!!!

And you do know that Athi River is less than 4km from where the SGR passes right? And do you know that the GoK issued and international bid for a Private investor to build a clinker storage facility in athi river right next to the SGR...... ... Also Merrueshi in Kajiado where this big clinker plant was built is about 140km from Athi River and only about 50km from the emali where SGR passes...

And oh BTW kajiado does have a rail and a train, how do you think all the Soda ash gets to Nairobi(to glass manufacturing plants) and Mombasa(for export) , they even started a commuter train service (wagon attached to the cargo train ) that operates twice a week on market days on a 40 km stretch between kajiado and Konza carrying 200 persengers

They even started renovation some sections by replacing the worn out steel sleepers with concrete sleepers like the SGR to make it more stable

Stop writting so many unimportant things in a sloppy attempt at justifying SGR.
1) There is NO SGR in Kajiado.
2)Wherether ARM had plants in Tz or UG, the facts are that the cement market contracted as both countries setup their own plants. That is the reason for their failure not because they mine their own clinker
3)You should be more concerned with the purpoted "feasibility study" that the chinese demaded which macharia had promised within 2wks but has never been released nor have the chinese okeyed the report and given the remaining funds.
YOU ARE FLOGGING A DEAD HORSE

Some goods transported by the SGR find there way to Nairobi and its environs through the meter gauge railway.
You mean Macharia was the one to produce the feasibility study requested by China on a project in Kenya??????? wouldnt that be nice!
China is just calculating the precedence it will set if it accepts Kenya's proposal as all the countries involved in China's trillion dollar one belt project will demand the same free funding.....
Anyway, If no deal between China Kenya and Uganda happens this year (after phase 2A is officially launched) then you can begin to call it a dead horse but till then this is still and ongoing situation which neither I or you can judge or predict.
