The remaining piece of rail from the SGR mainline near the corner of Kilwa/Kilosa streets to Dar port is less than 3 km, if they will put double track to facilitate smooth movement of freight trains, then the maximum length won't exceed 6 km.

The issue has been exaggerated and blown out of proportion as if it is a national crisis while people on the field knows that it is just a minor extension.

IMHO this Work Package don't even deserve an international tender, it can easily be constructed by mafundi wa TRC wakisaidiwa na Engineers from TANROADS.

This SGR runs parallel to the defunct, narrow-gauge Uganda Railway that was completed in 1901 under British colonial rule. The East African Railway Master Plan provides for the Mombasa–Nairobi SGR to link with other SGRs being built in the East African Community. At a cost of US$3.6 billion, the SGR is Kenya’s most expensive infrastructure project since independence. The prime contractor was the China Road and Bridge Corporation, which hired 25,000 Kenyans to work on the project. The railway commenced operation in mid 2017.
