-Controversial blogger Dennis Itumbi has called on the Mzalendo Kibunja-led National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to give him a public hearing so that he can prove his innocence after the commission accused him of spreading ‘hate messages’ online.

Itumbi made the announcement on his twitter account just hours after he received a letter (see below) from the NCIC informing him that he was under investigation for hate speech;

“NCIC has handed me a letter saying they are investigating me over Tribalism and Hate Speech, my response call me for a Public Hearing,” read one of Itumbi’s tweets.

“I further urge you to make the public hearing at the earliest date even tomorrow morning, serious accusation, largely baseless,” he added.

“You say I have been sending threatening messages, on FB, for example? If you mean what you allege I challenge you to a Public Session.”

Itumbi is known for being one of the first bloggers to make a sport out of revealing the names of ICC Prosecution witnesses. Some people have accused Itumbi and his nemesis Robert Alai (also a blogger) of being online ‘spinners’ for Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga respectively.

Yesterday, the NCIC said that it was keeping tabs on at least four social media accounts in the hopes of bringing criminal charges against the people who run them.
