Hii ni kutokana na kwamba inapiga ruti za ndani, imesababisha fastjet wakae mkao wa mapambano.

Dar es Salaam. The battle for Tanzanian skies is on as domestic airlines slash fares and resort to other promotional gimmicks in a wave of growing competition.
This comes in the wake of reports that Air Tanzania Company Limited’s market share in domestic aviation has shot to about 20 per cent from 2.5 per cent in October 2016 when it earnestly embarked on the recovery path.
Fastjet’s market share was about 42 per cent in the first quarter of the current calendar year, while PrecisionAir commanded 30 to 40 per cent of the market.

The only country in EA where that big bird can land on at least 4 of her airports. Kenya can not fly her dream liners locally.

What's so special with a dreamliner? It can land even in Isiolo airport. It's wingspan is not that big.
But the dreamliner, like other big aircraft, is made for long distance flights. That's the only way it will ever break even or pay for itself.
There is the minimum revenue per flight required for it to make any money.

Hio ya kwenu bongolala is just a campaign gimmick by your emperor. It is a loss making flying bus.

Aawapi...Isiolo airport runway of 1400 m and not so claimed 2,500 m cannot accommodate that bird.

Just kwa muda. Ratiba ni kwamba itafly localy kwa mwezi mmoja. The after that utakuwa inaenda rout za nje ya nchi.

Najua Ila that's a demonstration of a country's capability to land such a huge bird at 4 airports! Aside the physical structures like long superior runway, appropriate fire fighting unities, refueling options, plane tugger and PAx boarding stairs. That bird needs a lot of arrangement for cargo before it can be received. As I said it is an accomplishment of its sort.

Are you mad 😡
There are no two distinctive categories of dreamliners hey fool Isiolo my foot you know nothing

I think it is a good way of driving off competition but at what cost?

Aawapi...Isiolo airport runway of 1,524 m can not accommodate that bird.
The runway was upgraded to 2.5km wewe bado akili yako iko kwa airstrip. Isiolo is now a certified International Airport.

Leta evidence that extension is ready! BTW 2.5 km is not enough for dreamliner! Aside lack of presence of physical structures like fire fighting unities that can cater huge birds, plane tugger and PAx boarding stairs.

Kenya’s much anticipated, much delayed new airport, Isiolo International Airport, has been launched, signaling the beginning of passenger operations at the Sh2.5 billion facility.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, who commissioned the airport on Sunday, said the facility will open up the Northern Kenya tourism belt to grow the number of tourists in the region, thereby boosting the local economy.
“This airport is a catalyst to economic development that will come with the expansion of tourism and creation of quality job opportunities,” he said.
The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) chief executive Johny Andersen, Transport Principal Secretary Paul Maringa and Isiolo county commissioner George Natembeya had recently given the facility a green light to begin handling domestic flights.
“We will be able to handle international flights but we expect gradual development of other carriers, for now, the facility will start operation with domestic flights,” said Mr Andersen said during the final inspection tour of the facility last month.

Two local airlines, Fly SAX and Fly 540, have already set up offices at the Isiolo International Airport in readiness to begin their operations.
Isiolo airport, the first international airport in northern Kenya, is expected to open up the region for tourism and other economic possibilities.
The airport, which sits on 330 hectares, is a Vision 2030 flagship project and has a 4,500 square metre passenger terminal capable of handling 125,000 passengers annually.
Isiolo International Airport Facts & Figures
  • Current capacity up to 125,000 passengers per year
  • 4,500 square metre passenger terminal
  • 5,000 square metre floor area
  • Sits on 330 hectares; 3,501 feet above sea level
  • Its runway is 2.5 km long
  • Isiolo airport is a Vision 2030 flagship project
The project’s upgrade, which has been underway since February 2013, followed the July 2012 completion of the construction of a 1.4 kilometre runway, an apron, two taxiways, patrol road, fencing and runway safety works at a cost of Sh700 million.

The latest phase of the project has been undertaken by Northern Construction – a local contractor – and it involved extension of the runway to 2.5 kilometres from the current 1.4 kilometre and the extension of the apron to accommodate nine large planes instead of three.
Extending the runway means a heavy commercial aircraft such as a Boeing 737 would be able to land at the airport since the facility has the capacity to handle maximum take-off weight.
The Isiolo International Airport is a key part the Lapsset Corridor project, an economic and transport passageway that stretches from the Lamu Port to South Sudan and Ethiopia.

MY TAKE
An airport of capacity 125000 PAX per year is called mega in Kenya.😛😱

The runway was upgraded to 2.5km wewe bado akili yako iko kwa airstrip. Isiolo is now a certified International Airport.
Still dreamliner B787 and B747 can't land there! It's a shame a small airport like that is called international yet neither big birds can land no refueling options at disposal. Mulches ujinga ku-compare airstrips na true international airports.

That runway is well enough for the airport's capacity, and the infrastructure is of international standards. With our small country and smaller population our airports ziko tu sawa, usijicompare na sisi we are better than you.

Are you mad 😡
There are no two distinctive categories of dreamliners hey fool Isiolo my foot you know nothing

Most dreamliners require just 1.3 km of runway. Well below what's in Kenya's 6th largest airport Isiolo.
The only thing that makes the dreamliner special or popular is the fuel consumption compared to similar sized planes.

You think planes are refuelled at every airport?
Sometimes they have enough to continue with the journey and just land to drop/pick passengers.
In any case, Isiolo and Nairobi are not that far from each other. If there are no re-fuelling options at Isiolo, it can simply take off to Nairobi.

For a 2.5 km runway the capacity is stated below only Boeing 737

No international airport with no fuel farm! Only in Kunyaland!

For a 2.5 km runway is here under stated

You're not making a lot of sense, but know this.
A dreamliner can comfortably land in the following Kenyan airports.

1. JKIA
2. Wilson
3. Mombasa International
4. Eldoret International
5. Kisumu International
6. Isiolo International
