Dar es Salaam. Executive Director of the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), Mr Geoffrey Mwambe has called on domestic investors who are keen on joint ventures with foreign investors, to register their names at the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) office.

“TPSF is yet to submit the names of the recommended domestic investors who are keen on joint ventures with Dutch investors,” he said.

“I therefore encourage the domestic investors to register their names at TPSF so that we can link them with their foreign counterparts with a view to establishing joint ventures in the country,” he added.

He made the remarks when he spoke to The Citizen via telephone on Wednesday, and he further revealed that the Dutch business communities (Dutch investors) were expected to visit Tanzania between November, 2018 and February 2019 for exploring investment opportunities in the key sectors of industry, education, health, to mention a few.

“We are still communicating with them, but as far as I know they will visit us in the end of this year or in the beginning of the next year,” he said.

Commenting on investment environments in the country, Mr Mwambe expounded that political stability, peace and security were fundamental indicators to attract foreign investors, urging Tanzanians to continue maintaining peace in the country.

He further called on media practitioners in the country to join hands with the government to advertise the investment opportunities with a view to attract foreign investors.

The Netherlands Business Hub Nairobi was opened on Monday 14 December 2015 by his Excellency Mr. Frans Makken, Ambassador of the Netherlands in Kenya. The Netherlands Business Hub Nairobi will facilitate economic and business interests between the Netherlands and East-Africa. The Hub is an initiative of the Netherlands-African Business Council (NABC) and the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP), with the support of the Dutch Embassy in Nairobi and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). The opening and the network reception in Nairobi were attended by an audience of over 200 persons.
Kenya is already an important destination for Dutch trade and investment. The Kenyan economy, as well as the economies of neighboring countries, is expected to continue to grow in coming years, offering further opportunities for Dutch companies to contribute to social-economic growth of the region. Dutch companies are traditionally strong in the water, agribusiness, energy and infrastructure and port-development sectors. The Hub will specifically facilitate participation, as well as partnerships with Kenyan entities, in these sectors, but will also catalyze Dutch opportunities in other emerging sectors such as ICT and health.

Dutch Vice Minister of Health Erik Gerritsen says the visit follows a study which identified Kenya’s health sector as a promising market for such partnerships and business opportunities.
“Kenya’s health sector is promising in that it is budding which creates a lot of opportunities. Where it is right now means it has the potential of doing much better that some health sectors of developed countries,” Gerritsen said.
The three-day business mission, which kicked of Wednesday will include a health seminar, a tour to a public level 5 hospital and visits to the Gertrudes Children Hospital and Nairobi Hospital among other institutions.
Kenya alongside the United States and China are the only countries where the Dutch are intending to establish such initiatives.
“The economic relations between the two countries are strong with the Netherlands being the third largest export destination of Kenyan products. Netherlands is also a leader when it comes to health matters, which means Kenya has a lot to benefit from.”
