The EACC announced yesterday it had opened investigations into alleged misappropriation of the Sh250 billion Eurobond cash.
Boss Halakhe Waqo disclosed that senior officials had been summoned to ?provide information within their knowledge and possession that is relevant to the floating of the Eurobond?.
One of the top officers questioned is Treasury Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge.
The latest move by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission comes only two days after DPP Keriako Tobiko directed the EACC and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to probe the allegations by Cord that the cash meant for development projects had been stolen.
In a letter dated December 1, Tobiko directed Waqo and DCI director Ndegwa Muhoro to interrogate, record statements and get evidence from all parties concerned.
They were to forward the completed file to the DPP?s office for perusal and appropriate directions in 10 days.
Waqo said some bureaucrats involved in the transactions of the controversial Eurobond have been questioned and recorded statements.
?The response by the officers so far invited has been positive and the commission expects the local aspects of the investigations will speedily be concluded," he said.
"In this regard, the officers whose time schedules for proving information are yet to be reached are asked to adhere to the same."
