A fake company called Richmond recently sold such engines to Tanzanias power authority claiming they were equipment for energy...the same way a fake Anglo company was getting contracts in Kenya.

Guess what...the Anglo thieves have returned all the money because of the noise Kenyans made but you dont even know about Richmond because your media is not free to write anything or to 'abuse' your leaders if they like as Kenya's media is plus you still have power blackouts.

Other than warding off unfair insults why should anyone care if Tz doesn't join the EA?
....in fact we should have that referendum sooner so that Tznians can officially say NO and the Fed can move on with the other countries

My friends, non one of you has convinced me, why should TZ join EA Fed and not SADC. SADC appeals more as historical, social, and economic bloc for Tanzania. By nature and off course historically, majority of Tanzanians are Bantus while the Kenyans are Nilotics. SADC is much more Bantu and Kenya and the anticipated EA Fed. is much more of a Nilotic nature. Kenya belongs to southern Sudan, Somalia, Uganda and so on. Overlooking this reality, would commit the colonial mistake, that was committed by the colonialists in Berlin Conference 1885. Dividing countries and dumping people into the so called nations without taking to consideration the nature and the background of these people.

Firstly TZ is part of SADC, however SADC members and in particular RSA wants to form a customs union by 2010 to add on to the conundrum RSA wants a Free Trade Area (FTA) by 2008... (Also bear in mind that the Deputy Minister for East African Co-operation, Diodorus Kamara is determined to remain in both blocs i.e. SADC and EAC.. ohh and by the way TZ is thinking of going back to COMESA....). Back to my point though; the implications of TZ agreeing to FTA will have devasting effects on TZ's economy mainly:

1. SADC countries will have to eliminate tariffs, quotas and preferences on most (if not all) goods between them but then TZ will be the end loser being that RSA (if not most of the sub saharan countries) exports more into TZ than vise versa.

2. RSA is the New York of Africa (economic powerhouse) and they have the capacity to produce capital and intermediate goods.

The above of course will have a negative impact on TZ's economy because of the imbalances of the two coutries. To add insult to injury RSA and TZ literally produce the same kind of goods particularly metals i.e. diamond,gold etc. Who becomes the loser at the end of the day? TZ needs to decide whether they will stick to SADC, EAC/COMESA (EAC and COMESA-the two have the same objectives/goals) instead of displaying traits of a $5 hooker.....

yeah. SADC has been virtually hijacked by SA who have strategically named it 'their' market with amazingly lopsided arrangements in SA favor. This is already evident in investments and trade in the region. The same fate will befall NEPAD soon (remember the EAC conceived Easyy project?).

As you point out the only resource Tz can conceivably contribute to their benefit within SADC apart from minerals and land (which are common in all other SADC members) is human capital; which is currently lacking. Whether SA will be willing to embrace their fellow Tz bantu kinsmen is another thing all together. Common economic sense dictates that you fraternise with those who lack what you have in abundance AND have what you need for mutual benefit. Well, you also need to be compatible so as to coexist peacefully.

kenya needs to forget this EAC thing & concentrate on COMESA..its larger and makes more sense, and is 'cured' from xenophobia

Hakuna sababu ya kufikiria kuhusu shirikisho kwa sasa. Kama Wakenya na Waganda wanataka shirikisho tuwaachie waendelee na shirikisho lao.

Lakini pia kuna maswali mengi juu ya jumuiya hii ya Africa Mashariki. kwanza Jumuiya ilipoanzishwa, ni viongozi ndiyo waliofanya maamuzi hayo na wala siyo wananchi. sasa ndiyo wanarudi kwetu tutoe maoni kwa nini hawakushirikisha wakati wanaanzisha?. Pili kimaendeleo nchi hizi hazilingani, hapa kuna nchi zitakuwa wasindikizaji na hili Tanzania hatuwezi kulikwepa. Tatu si rahisi kwa mtanzania kwa mfano kwenda kenya na kukuta ardhi ambayo haina mtu na kumilikishwa kwa sababu haipo, lakina wakenya na waganda watakuja hapa na kumiliki ardhi yetu, twauza nchi jamani. Hivyo napinga kwa 100% suala la shirikisho la Africa Mashariki

Katika kikao cha jana, uli jaribu kutueleza, jinsi watanzania tunavyo danganywa kuhusu SADAC. Mbali nakupokewa kwa taadhima kuu kule SA tuna pawa mapokezi kama vile Makwerekwere (jina lakidharau kule SA) wengine. Je kwanini Mtu kutoka SA haitaji visa kuja kwetu? Pili haya maadini tunayo jivunia mbona hatupati faida yeyote?
Hayo ni baadae.

Sasa tuikabili swala la Zanzibar. Kwa zaidi ya miaka 30 wazanzibari wamekuwa wakinyanyaswa na watu kutoka Tanganyika. Jana tuli kuwa COMESA leo tuko SADAC! Je wazanzibari wana uhusiano wowote wakiukoo au hata kilugha na watu wa SADAC? Wazanzibari tangu karne na karne zilizopita wame kuwa na husiano no Oman, Kismayu, Lamu na Mombasa.

Katika kuelewa swala hili ni muhimu sana kewtu sisi kueleza wazi wazi kwamba ikiwa Tanganyika ingependa kujumuika na SADAC basi Zanzibar igependa kujumuika na COMESA na EAF. Kwakweli wanzanzibari wamechoka kunyanyaswa na vigogo tuka bara.

1. Its 2006 and pple who are accusing Kenya and others of tribalism are basing their argument on who is Nilote and who is Bantu...more hypocrisy!
It might not even be xenophobia because they have no problems with South africans (also foreigners) taking over their industries

2. They are also arguing that Kenyans and Ugandans have conflicts and violence etc etc....once again the hypocrisy shows because if they don’t hesitate to ask these countries to clean up, they turn a blind eye to crime and violence levels in RSA.

3. The other argument is that Kenyans should first kick out the white pple who own land in Kenya...(more xenophobia!) first before any Fed.
The hypocrisy in this one comes in that they have no problems joining SADC which is practically run by RSA whose economy we all know is still in the hands of white South Africans.
So much so that Desmond Tutu was complaining the other day that till today the wealth has not yet flown into the blacks hands.
For a pple who keep reminding us that they fought for freedom and helped others fight for it doing business with the white run RSA economy is the height of of Hypocrisy and contradiction.

These three arguments simply do not hold any water!
 

Yaani sikujua eti the Eassy project was concieved by EAC. That means that TZ betrayed other EAC countries by signing too quickly on a faulty deal that will give SA companies monopolies....talk of smartness!

Not forgetting that a similar project SAT3 probably run by the same cartel has built a cable on the west of africa using borrowed money that the west african taxpayer is still paying even though they havent seen the internet because of monopolies making it expensive.

Je katika ulimwengu wa leo, wa sayansi na teknologia, kuna watu bado wenye dhana potovu ya ubaguzi? jibu ni ndio, kuna baadhi ya watu (sio wote) wanao eneza chuki na uhasama katika eneo letu. Sina hakika kama kweli hawa watu (kwa lugha nyegine isiyo faa manduli) ni watanzania. Nasema hivi kwasababu lugha wanayo tumia ni duni, isio weza kuendeleza mdahalo wa maana!
Hebu tujiulize maswali kadha wa kadha:
1. Je nia yetu ni maendeleo ya kijamii, kisiasa na kiuchumi?
2. Uzalendo duni una nafasi katika dunia ya leo?

Hawa wenzetu wameamua kuipaka matope tanzania na eneo lote la Afrika Mashariki na hata hiyo SADAC wanayo ipigia debe. Juzi nili kuwa Johanesburg (Jozi kama vile wenyeji wanavyo liita jiji hilo) ajabu kubwa ni kwamba ukiwa mtu asoweza kuzungumza kizulu, xhoza au lugha yeyote ya SA wanajulikana kwa jina lakidharau - Makwerekwere. Uwe Mtanzania, uwe Mnigeria, Mkenya, Mganda, Mnyarwanda jina ni hilo hilo.

Pili la kushangaza ni kwamba madaktari, wana sayansi wa computa, wengi wao ni waganda! Wakuu wamashirika binafsi hasa katika vitengo vya sales & marketing ni wakenya na pia baadhi ya ma lecturer katika vyuo vikuu. Je wale wanao ipigia debe SADAC wana takwimu yeyote ya kujivunia.

Mwisho muungano ni jambo la wanaanchi kuamua kupia kura ya maoni na sio makelele bila ya hoja. Uzalendo duni hauta tupeleka popote ni lazma tuangalia kila jambo kwa maakini. Kwani kikulacho hakipo kenya, uganda,rwanda, burundi au kwengineko bali ki ubungo!
