Tomorrow, more than 1500 ex-National Service volunteers plan to hold peaceful demonstrations to the State House in Dar es Salaam.

"It should be noted that the demonstrations are peaceful and we shall go to the State House empty handed…we are not going for war," Ex-JKT Volunteer Chairman George Mgobe clarified.

They are seeking to meet President Jakaya Kikwete in person, a resolution reached after their meeting with Chief Secretary Ombeni Sefue proved fruitless.

This is not the first time, the disgruntled group attempted to stage a demonstration to the State House late last year (Dec 17) but were intercepted by police, barred from proceeding and asked to select five representatives who then met with Chief Secretary Sefue.

According to Mgobe, Sefue told them during the meeting at State House that he would address the matter but to no avail.

"Since we met the Chief Secretary, we have written the State House three times but got no response," he lamented.

"What we have decided now is to demonstrate up to the State House," he announced.

"This time around, we don't want to meet anybody else but the President," he insisted.

He explained that all the military trained youth want is jobs and that they believe the President will offer them some form of acceptable solution.
"There is wide spread nepotism when it comes to offering employment to the volunteers," he alleged.

He said the soldiers have already informed the offices of the Inspector General of Police, Dar es Salaam Special Zonal Commander and State House Secretary about the demonstrations.

On December 17, over 1500 EX-JKT volunteers' marched to State House to demand for job opportunities the move that was later foiled by Police.
