Attorney General's Office Reveals Owners of Companies Linked to Sh5 Billion Health Ministry Scandal

The revelations were made following media reports indicating that documents regarding three companies mentioned as beneficiaries of the loot had gone missing and it would, therefore, be hard to hold the owners to account.
According to a statement from Muigai's office, Estama Investment Company, which is said to have received Sh800 Million for supply of 100 portable container clinics, belongs to Ambrose Makanga Ngari and Esther Wahito Makanga.
Th registration record further indicated that the said company had not filed any annual returns since its incorporation in 2008.
Another company, Life Care Medics, which is said to have also benefited from the mega-theft belongs to Richard Ngatia Waweru and Paul Wanderi Ndungu and last filed its returns in December 2015.
As per the registry records, the third organisation, Medafrica Limited, is a private company with its directors listed as Njage Makanga and Naomi Wanjiku Mirithu.
Similarly, the said company had no records of annual returns since its incorporation in 2013 despite having transacted with the government.
On Friday morning, detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) led by Deputy CEO Michael Mubea stormed the Ministry's headquarters at Afya House as they began investigations into the scam.
The anti-graft boss promised to set up a special team to investigate the alleged Sh5 Billion theft at the Ministry and present a report within 30 days.
Top officials at the department have been linked to misappropriation of the Billions according to a leaked audit report published by a local daily.
