Reviews influence travelers’ booking decisions to the large extent. The more travelers read good reviews about your property, the more likely you will convert then into bookings. And the more your guests are satisfied with your services, the more likely you will get recommended on your Trip Advisor page. Thus retaining your top position for easy visibility. TripAdvisor ranking algorithm is based on three key factors

  • Quantity - Total number of reviews.
  • Quality - star rating of the review.
  • Recency - New added reviews on regular basis.

There is no magic on gaining TA top rank. Let’s look…

1. Provide Remarkable Services.
Sacrifice to build personalized guest experience from check in to check out. Pay attention to little details. Aim not only to sell your services but to help as well.

2. Give Great Value.
Wi-Fi charges, parking fees and breakfast are some of the key points travelers complain on their reviews. This is the reason some top ranked properties offer them for free to their travelers. If you apply these, you will be at better position.

3. Find Brand Advocates.
Simple on-site survey is the best way to get these advocates. Guests who accept to take survey are more likely to be positive with your services. They will help you to improve your ratings. Use these advocates to follow your property on your social media page for driving conversation.

4. Prevent Escalation of Negative Reviews.
Be proactive before negative reviews going live on your TA page. Train and empower your staff to resolve on-properly issues before guest check out, and before they publish their complaints on your TA page.

5. Do NOT offer Incentives to Get Reviewed.
Be discounts, upgrades or free amenities in exchange for writing reviews travelers.
Your reviews may not look to reflect true experience of your property, thus contradicting your prospective bookers and killing your brand image. Also if TA spot fraudulent review, your property will get slapped with red badge to warn the travelers and further action will be taken including banning your account.

Show that you care about your customers, respond to all reviews with emphasis on low star ratings.
Be truly and honest what you advertise on your site versus what you offer on your property.
Overall, to improve your TA ranking, you must operationalize from what you learn from each review and thus you keep guest satisfaction as ongoing process.
