Foreign minister considers Tanzanian president's visit positive
Luanda - The Angolan Foreign minister, Georges Rebelo Chikoti, considered Sunday in Luanda ?very positive? the 24-hour visit paid by the head of State, Jakaya Kikwete, of Tanzania, to Angola, as it allowed the reinforcement and re-launch of existing cooperation between both countries.

According to the head of the Angolan diplomacy, who was speaking to journalists at the Luandas 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, one of the positive aspects of the visit was the re-launch of bilateral cooperation in the area of oil and gas, under which Angola will provide support for that African country, including in the training of Tanzanian personnel in the country.
The issue was discussed during an audience granted to the Tanzanian president by the Angolan head State, José Eduardo dos Santos, and the parties are now working on the creation of commissions to boost cooperation in the sector, he explained.
The Government official stated that the parties also discussed issues related to peace in the Great Lakes region, particularly the cooperation between both countries concerning the pacification of the region, a process in which Tanzania is an important country.
In this regard , he added, "was addressed the question of peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the need to improve the environment of peace among Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo," the minister stressed.
I think it was an extremely important meeting and hope that this also contributes to the stabilisation in the region and pacification of our region, said the Angolan minister.
On the other hand, Georges Chikoti informed that in the search of peace in the Great Lakes Region, a regional coordination group involving Angola, South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania, intended to improve the environment of peace within the ICGLR, will be created.
As part of its contribution to peace, Angolan hosted on March 25 this year in Luanda a summit on the Great Lakes Region, from which the Tanzania president was absent.
As to the opening of the Embassy of Tanzania in Angola, George Chikoti said the two Foreign ministers will hold contacts for the purpose, by creating working commissions to handle the matter.
Angola has an embassy in Dar Es Salam, the Tanzanian capital, and the two countries enjoy excellent relations of bilateral cooperation at the level of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) and of the ICGLR of which they are members.
