DOES freedom of speech exist in Tanzania and what is happening? There are many questions that might be going through in our minds daily.

The answers to these questions depend on the way one perceives and analyses issues that take place in our country.

I think we have free of speech in Tanzania. It is guaranteed by the constitution. I also do think it is too censored by some government officials. I think, the court has not done its job in upholding freedom of speech as one of the fundamental rights of human being.

Freedom of Speech!!!!!. I agree, YES it might have nutritional benefits to industrialization which JPM is vying for. But I have some questions
1.Why freedom of speech started pre industrialization in US (1800s), yet it was not some thing to be inacted until 20th century (1990s)?
2. Why did USSR turn to a level of super power economically completely without freedom of Speech?
3. Why is China today with such limited freedom of speech, yet are controlling the world's business?
4. Why the Mwalimu Nyerere's Tanzania could have a lot of industries (swala, Nyumbu, viwanda vya ngozi, mbolea, blanket, you name it), good regional transport companies like moretco, national farm like NAFCO, without so much of this nutrient "Freedom of speech"
5. Comparatively during the 4th government regime under Jakaya Kikwete, is the time we were fed alot and we enjoyed this nutrient "freedom of speech" yet no sound industrialization could be realized even a mention. Instead it is the time when fraud investments extended their roots all over the economic, social and political well being of the country. The fruits of these frauds are now called MAJIPU.
6. Will I be correct therefore, in a Tanzanian context (probably the whole of Africa) that in one hand the nutrient "freedom of speech" probably now nourishing the west, in the other hand it is toxic to our development?
Unless I am made clear to these reservation, I remain confused, may be even more people are confused of exactly what is in the nutritional menu "freedom of speech" which is good for us?
I am skeptical may be those from the west who actually enlightened Africa the need to have this menu as nutritional component of development did not give Africa the correct recipe which is the same as theirs.
In fact as compared to other African countries, our constitution already takes on board this nutrient to a greater extent, Yet we remain poor beggars right from homestead (ombaomba mtaani) up to a national ombaomba (presidential/ministerial ombaomba flying all over the world just for begging). why didn't this nutrient of speech package which we all enjoyed could not work for us and get read of this vise?
In that case, unless these questions are clalirified clearly, then I do agree and really call upon my fellow Tanzanians to agree on our own menu. This is called "UHURU BILA MIPAKA NI UWENDA WAZIMU" (Mwalimu Nyerere)
