Rep. Walter Jones, R-N.C., suggested to a libertarian group that former Vice President Dick Cheney will likely end up in a fiery place for his role in the Iraq War.
"Congress will not hold anyone to blame," Jones said this weekend to Young Americans for Liberty in Raleigh, N.C. "Lyndon Johnson's probably rotting in hell right now because of the Vietnam War, and he probably needs to move over for Dick Cheney."
Jones is a staunch critic of the Iraq War. He was initially a supporter and a leader in the pre-war move to get the U.S. House cafeteria to serve "freedom fries" instead of french fries. Later, Jones repeatedly tried to get President George W. Bush to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq.
The video of Jones' remarks was first unearthed by Think Progress, a left-leaning blog run by the Center for American Progress Action Fund. It's been making the rounds in the last day, and has been picked up by Slate, The Huffington Post and The Washington Post, among others.
