Government focuses on boosting SMEs

Mkuu Ericus Kimasha nashukuru kwa hili la DseTanzania kujiunga kwenye jukwaa, Je ni lini CMA wataanzisha soko dogo la mitaji kwa ajili ya SME's? Ni wazi kwamba sehemu kubwa ya uchumi wetu inaendeshwa na SME's, ila kikwazo kikuu ni upatikanaji na ukusanyaji wa mitaji nafuu. Naomba kuwasilisha!

DSE ni vema mkatoa definition ya SMEs maana SMEs ya UK inaweza kuwa kampuni kubwa sana hapa kwetu.


According to NBAA (Tanzania) SMEs (modified by Mtazamo) are;-

(1) Entities that are not publicly accountable or representing public interest,
(2) Entities including GBEs with less than 100 employees,
(3) Entities including GBEs with capital investment in non-current assets of
less than TShs.800,000,000.
 
Shida ni moja wale wale unawaona kwenye macro ndo wale wale utawaona kwenye SME's. Halafu utashangaa vigezo ni vile vile vinavyowekwa kwa wafanyabiashara wakubwa. Mimi nashangaa sana hasa kwenye taasisi za fedha wanajigamba kusema wao wanataka kuhudumia wafanyabiashara wadogo lakini masharti yao ni yale yale wanayoyatumia kuwahudumia wafanyabiashara wakubwa. Kiufupi ni kuwa sekta ya fedha na uwezeshaji inakosa innovation, wanataka mawazo yaliyopo hawafikirii kabisa mawazo mapya.

SME stands for Small to Medium Enterprise.However, what exactly an SME or Small to Medium Enterprise is depends on who's doing the defining. Industry Canada uses the term SME to refer to businesses with fewer than 500 employees, while classifying firms with 500 or more employees as "large" businesses.
Breaking down the SME definition, Industry Canada defines a small business as one that has fewer than 100 employees (if the business is a goods-producing business) or fewer than 50 employees (if the business is a service-based business). A firm that has more employees than these cut-offs but fewer than 500 employees is classified as a medium-sized business.
A microbusiness is defined as a business with fewer than five employees.
In its ongoing research program that collects data on SMEs in Canada, Statistics Canada defines an SME as any business establishment with 0 to 499 employees and less than $50 million in gross revenues.
Different countries define SMEs differently.
In the EU, a similar system is used to define Small to Medium Enterprises. A business with a headcount of fewer than 250 is classified as medium-sized; a business with a headcount of fewer than 50 is classified as small, and a business with a headcount of fewer than 10 is considered a microbusiness. The European system also takes into account a business's turnover rate and its balance sheet.
There does not seem to be any standard definition of SME in the U.S.

DSE does not have a definition of SMEs which is different from a common one defined or used by other bodies such as TRA, Banking sector, consultancy companies, etc. The only criteria when it comes to listing an SME on the EGM segment is that they should have an issued and paid-up capital of at least Tshs 200 million, with at least 50% of net assets situated within Tanzania.

Ni kweli, orodha tuliyoonesha ni "firms" ndizo zilizopewa leseni kama NOMADs, ambapo kati ya waajiriwa wao wapo representative ambao nao wanapaswa kuwa na wamefanya na kufaulu mtihani unaotolewa na mamlaka husika (CMSA).
