Rwanda midfielder Haruna Niyonzima has told Tanzanias Taifa Stars to expect fireworks when they face the Amavubi in the return leg of the African Nations Championships (CHAN) qualifiers on June 5 in Kigali.
Niyonzima said Amavubi will not lose at home and will fight to ensure the battle ends in their favour. The two sides battled to a 1-1 draw in the first leg match played at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on May 1.
"We respect Taifa Stars, they are a good side. They played very well against us in Dar es Salaam. It was a great second half performance after we outplayed them in the first half. But they should expect a tough challenge here," the APR midfield told New Times.
The diminutive midfielder impressed during the game and much will be expected of him when the teams meet in a fortnight.
Taifa Stars will need nothing short of a victory in the match against Rwanda to book their place in the second CHAN finals to be staged in Khartoum, Sudan next year.
Stars made it through to the maiden final in Ivory Coast early last year.
