Helicopter crashes in Mathare area

Helikopta ya Jeshi la Polisi imedondoka huko Mathare.

Sababu ya kudondoka kwa helikopta hiyo bado haijajulikana.

Helikopta hiyo ilikuwa na askari polisi wanne, taarifa za vifo au majeruhi hazijajulikana.

A police helicopter has crashed in Mathare North area.

The cause of the accident and the fate of the four police officers is yet to be known, but reports indicate it was the recently acquired AgustaWestland helicopter.

This is the second accident to take place today, following an earlier crash in Naivasha involving a light aircraft.

The accident occurred at Sanctuary Farm. A Kenya Red Cross officer at the scene said five of the six passengers suffered injuries while one was seriously wounded.

Naivasha OCPD says the aircraft was airborne for less than five minutes.

The agusta westland 139 is a very fast and reliable bird, but only if you buy a new one and maintain it in tiptop shape.
The one that has crashed was an old bird from ukraine that was given a fresh coat of paint and some avionics.( i saw that a few months ago in a defence forum in the web ) Anyway poleni the loss of life is always saddening.

Latest, No loss of life, but a few injured cops..

No two russia Mi-17 were the ones that were refurbished in ukrain, the Agusta (from italy) was brand new at a cost of 683million

okay, the company that refurbished the mi 17s is Czech known as Lom praha Trade.(its blacklisted in some european countries so you know what to expect. anyway i just came across some of this stuff from the defence web.

when interior minister nkaisseri was called by parliament to answer questions on why he dint do a cimpetitive bidding process (where it would have been easier to get a good chopper at a bargainibg price with the best specs) instead of direct procurement, he chose to ignore parliament and not answer questions..... now someone needs to face the music, 683million si pesa ya change... how many mama mbogas have to pay taxes that amounts to 683million!!!!!!!!

On checking the video, that pilot..hmmmmh[emoji15] [emoji20] the bird is clearly stalling due to the fact it was hovering at a bad angle and not generating enough speed for the main rotor. He seemed to be trying to come out of the stall but no lift.

On Mr Nkaiserry, i personaly have good memories of him back in high school days,he was a frequent visitor as he was the local mp but on this one i think he has messed up, procurement laws are there to guarantee quality and safeguard the public, its just plain and simple.

With regards to the reconditioned mi17s according to some defence forums, the czech guys Lom Praha made a killing out of the deal. The amount quoted for the works is 3.7m$. For some nice paint job, good leather seats and rate avionics i d take that and runn[emoji2] [emoji2] [emoji125]

Sad but just goes to show how nice it is to live in a country where events are always recorded live. Somebody's phone camera captured everything. You can get answers to serious things and also get inundated with useless garbage. Glad to report no loss of life.
