Chen Wei-yih, 30, blames social pressure for the decision.
She has already rented a banqueting hall and invited 30 friends to attend the reception next month.
"Age thirty is a prime period for me," Chen is reported as saying. "My work and experience are in good shape, but I haven't found a partner, so what can I do?
"It's not that I'm anti-marriage. I just hope that I can express a different idea within the bounds of a tradition."
Chen's mother initially insisted upon the involvement of a groom, but has now given the ceremony her blessing.
Her daughter is not ruling out marrying a man at some point in the future, but for the time being feels the poor calibre of potential suitors in Taiwan. means she has no choice but to wed herself.
Chen is planning to spend a solo honeymoon in Australia after the marriage ceremony.
