High Court throws out petition against governor Kidero
The Nairobi High Court has dismissed the election petition filed by former Embakasi Member of Parliament Ferdinand Waititu against the election of Dr Evans Kidero as the governor of Nairobi County in the March 4 election.
Justice Richard Mwongo who made the ruling determined that Waititu's claims of irregularities in the electoral process were insufficient to warrant a nullification of the entire process.
Mwongo further said that Waititu's chief agent who Waititu said reported the discrepancies was not available in court to be cross-examined by Kidero's lawyers. Mwongo then said that the evidence before the court was inconclusive. Further to dismissing the petition, Mwongo directed Waititu to pay the costs of the petition amounting to five million.
