Berlusconi on Giampaolo : "Good that Giampaolo is chosen thanks to my advice, I will meet him. I think he is a coach who loves the beautiful game, with an offensive mentality, which is the first thing a team must do to win and convince".

Giampaolo on his personal dream: "It has always been to have fun while training a football team. When a team loses its playful aspect and becomes dismal, there are problems. Being able to train while having fun is already a dream and I always chase that option."

Dani Ceballos scored the opener in Spain U21's campaign in the U21 European Championships last night but the Spanish side slumped to an eventual 3-1 defeat. Ceballos has been a target of a number of clubs over the past year; including being linked to both Lazio and AC Milan in Serie A.

Now, as has been reported by Spanish outlet AS, Zidane informed Ceballos, who is currently contracted to the Frenchman's Real Madrid side, that there was no place for him within the French coach's plans at the club. Ceballos would have given an immediate response, as per AS, in which he conveyed his desire to leave the club and telling Zidane that he no longer wants to work under him.

This will open the door for both Milan and Lazio, as well as a handful of Premier League clubs, who have expressed an interest in the Spaniard. If he can keep impressing at the EUROs, however, he could soon be out of the price range of both clubs; with the Rossoneri and the Biancocelesti only having limited amounts of funds.

Galliani to Sky: "Giampaolo? I had opted for him during the summer of 2016, when I was with the Chinese, who wanted Montella, whom I also esteem. Giampaolo himself can confirm this, he came to my house. Had it been up to me, Giampaolo would've been the Milan coach in 2016."

Conti had interest from a Premier League club, but Milan declared that he was not for sale. Giampaolo really like him.

Former AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani and former owner Silvio Berlusconi have both discussed the current state of the team and incoming boss Marco Giampaolo.
Both Galliani and Berlusconi claim to have picked Giampaolo prior to the current management doing so.
“I chose Giampaolo in the summer of 2016 when we were working side by side with the Chinese before the buyout. They wanted Montella who I also respect. Giampaolo can confirm this, he came to my house. If it were my choice, he would have been the AC Milan coach in 2016.”
Berlusconi then spoke on his views of Giampaolo as a coach and also told his story of suggesting him to current President, Paolo Scaroni.
“He is a man who likes beautiful football, has an attacking mentality and that is what you need in a team that must win convincingly. I like that he could bring back the trequartista. I’d be happy if Milan stepped on to the pitch with an attacking mind, playing good football.”
“I will ask Scaroni if I can meet with Giampaolo, as I think I can give him some useful tips. I did talk to the president recently and perhaps he chose Giampaolo because of my advice.”
Berlusconi also found some time to critique his former player and the most recent Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso.
“There were very few shots on goal this season and that really disappointed me,” he said.
“Gennaro Gattuso is a great athlete we all know and who gave so much to Milan.
“I am very fond of him as a person and a player. I did have some disagreements with him as a coach, because we didn’t share the same views on what the tactical system ought to be.”
The pair currently operate Monza in Serie C after purchasing the club in 2018.

AC Milan are interested in a fresh move for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos this summer, according to reports.

Real boss Zinedine Zidane is already planning for a big summer revamp at the Bernabeu having taken back the reigns following Santiago Solari’s sacking in March, and Ceballos is one of the players who is likely considered surplus to requirements.

The player himself recently gave potential suitors hope by admitting his future is far from certain.

“Zidane has spoken to me, and he was very clear,” Ceballos told Onda Cero.

“I have accepted his explanations as to what he sees for me next season. However I do have a contract for four more years, and a high release clause.

“When I return I will make a decision. If I do leave, I want to play for a side that where I feel important.

“I want to show that I can play in any team in Europe. I am a young player that wants to succeed, and I cannot have another year of not playing.”

Milan are one of the clubs who have been persistently linked with a move for the Spaniard, who netted a screamer against Italy at the U21 European Championships on Sunday night.

Now, both il Milanista and Spanish outlet AS state that the Rossoneri have been alerted to his availability this summer, with a price tag of €30million reportedly being set.

The English media have credited Spurs and West Ham with interest in Ceballos, who made 23 LaLiga appearances last season scoring three times.

AC Milan are still in the race to sign Roma defender Kostas Manolas after Napoli saw a bid rejected, according to a report.

The Rossoneri are seemingly in the market for a centre-back this summer with Cristian Zapata set to depart at the end of the month, and last week reports emerged linking Milan with a move for Manolas.

It was then claimed more recently that the Greece international has agreed terms with Napoli ahead of a potential move, with just a fee needing to be agreed between them and Roma.

However, Monday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport provides bad news for the Naples club, as they saw their initial bid for Manolas rejected.

Roma are not looking to give any discounts on the centre-back, and will insist on any interested clubs paying his €36m release clause

The Partenopei had offered Dries Mertens in exchange, but the Rome side need to make cash and thus the release clause is the only option.

Milan and Juventus are named as are keeping a close eye on the situation, and could decide to make an attempt soon

Sassuolo boss Roberto De Zerbi has dropped a hint that Stefano Sensi could leave the club this summer amid linked with AC Milan.

Sensi’s agent Giuseppe Riso met with Paolo Maldini at Casa Milan on Tuesday afternoon amid rumours that the Rossoneri are interested in the Italy international.

We recently learned that Sensi is the midfielder for whom Milan most seriously intends to start negotiations, and that Sassuolo president Squinzi values him at around €20million.

Now, De Zerbi has spoken about his prized midfielder, he hinted that he could be on his way.

“If he were to stay we would all be happy,” he told Sky Sport 24.

“If he didn’t want to stay because someone is looking for him, we would still be happy, because one of our players he is going to improve.

“We would be happy with his journey, trying to accompany some other player to do the same.”

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira is willing to return to Serie A and play under Marco Giampaolo at AC Milan, a report claims.

The Uruguay international worked under his tutelage at Sampdoria where he had his big breakthrough, and the Giampaolo would love to build his Milan midfield around the 22-year-old.

The idea of a swap deal involving Franck Kessie was mentioned in the papers on Sunday, but recent reports have claimed that the Gunners have no intention of selling their prized young midfielder.

Now, TMW provides an update on the Torreira saga by claiming that despite the lack of negotiations between Milan and Arsenal, things look good for the former.

They suggest that the Uruguay international is more than willing to return to Italy and play under Giampaolo at San Siro.

Important updates on the situation are expected in the coming days, but things are hopeful for Paolo Maldini and co.

Corriere della Sera with fresh reports there is an agreement in sight between Milan and UEFA that should, in some way, close the complicated dispute over FFP. The scenario taking shape is a compromise that sees Milan giving up EL participation for more time to balance the budget

Milan exiting Europa League would also mean that Milan will have more time to be 'break-even' compliant – which UEFA gave Milan a deadline until June 2021 to reach.

Leonardo Bonucci has revealed the reason behind his shock move to AC Milan was because his “bond had faded” with Juventus after seven years at the club.

The 30-year-old, who made 227 appearances for Juve since joining from Bari in 2010, moved to big-spending Milan for a reported £35m after losing a second Champions League final in three seasons.

The Italian, who is widely considered one of the best centre-backs in the world had become a cult figure in Turin and was linked with moves to the Premier League and Chelsea last summer.

And he revealed that while his bond to the club was no longer as strong as it was, he admitted the feeling from Juventus was mutual.

“When you are part of a group for seven years, you leave something - I hope - beautiful inside each of your former team-mates. I had intense seven years with Juventus, in which I gave so much to them and vice versa,” he told Milan TV.

“In the last part of the last season, this bond had faded a bit on both sides and thus it was decided for us to go our separate ways. I was lucky enough to have this offer from Milan, which intensified quickly.

MARIO RUI – NAPOLI

The second name on Maldini’s list of targets is Mario Rui of Napoli. The 28-year-old defender has worked together with new AC Milan coach Marco Giampaolo while at Empoli.

His agent Mario Giuffredi has been at Casa Milan recently and is negotiating a transfer along with Veretout, the Fiorentina midfielder is another client of his.

When asked about a possible transfer to Milan, Giuffredi replied: “I know that Marco Giampaolo values Mario Rui a lot and would like to have him with him at his new club. I am an honest agent and I believe that some of my clients like Rui deserve to play in big clubs like Milan”.

According to reports, AC Milan have already contacted Napoli but there is still some distance for the Portugal international. The Rossoneri have offered 9 million euros while Napoli are not willing to sell for less that 13 million.

Mario Rui won the first edition of UEFA’s Nations League a few days ago. He started his career at Benfica and has also played with Parma and Roma in Italy. At this moment, he is considered the most likely candidate for the job.

On tonight’s episode of Gianluca Di Marzio’s show it was made clear of a new target for Milan.

The club is considering activating the €15m release clause of Stuttgart’s center back, Ozan Kabak. His agents were at Casa Milan today discussing terms. Milan have already made an offer to Kabak’s team, a reply is expected soon. Kabak has been followed by many top clubs in Europe.

Maldini seemingly likes the players profile and believes he would be a strong addition to the team. He is 19 years old and made 15 appearances for Stuttgart this season. He is also playing for the Turkish under 20 national team.

Zapata is expected to leave the club on the expiration of his contract and Kabak is a good replacement. Milan have also shown heavy interest in Kostas Manolas from Roma but Napoli have shown interest as well.

With Milan looking to be excluded from this year’s Europa League in order to gain more time to break even under FFP, we could see a surplus of players arriving this summer. The club is looking to reinforce the squad as much as possible.

LUCA PELLEGRINI – ROMA

The last name on Maldini’s list is Luca Pellegrini. The Italian left-back has had a similar journey with Marc Cucurella.

Luca Pellegrini made only 4 appearances with Roma at the beginning of the season and was loaned to Cagliari in January. Some great appearances with the Sardinian club were enough to attract the attention of AC Milan.

In the second half of the season Pellegrini made 16 appearances and, together with Barella, was one of Cagliari’s most important players. Unlike Eibar, Cagliari didn’t have a signing option and Pellegrini returned to Roma.

The Italy U-21 international has a contract with Roma until 2022 but his agent, Mino Raiola, is already on the move to find a new club for his client that can guarantee him more minutes.

Raiola has offered Pellegrini to Juventus but the player could also stay in the capital to play his chances. Roma currently value the 20-year-old at around 10 million euros.
