Ivan Rakitic would be willing to play at AC Milan and FC Barcelona would have no problem letting the player out either. The Croatian is a wish of the Rossoneri directive. Via

Di Marzio: "Milan will do something in the January window and it's not certain that they'll continue looking for young talents. As Gazidis said, they can take advantage of opportunities and get experienced players. I also don't think that Milan need to sell in January."

Milan's are pondering signing Rakitic in January. The Croatian's contract ends in 2021 & Barcelona are willing to let him go. He would accept playing for Milan for more few years & his price is affordable for the club [Gazzetta dello Sport]

Home » Repubblica: Milan’s valuation to rise massively due to new stadium project

AC Milan’s valuation as a club will drastically increase when the new stadium is in place, according to a report.

Monday represented a crucial day for the project as the City Council took a vote which would decide whether the project was ‘in the public interest’, and the results were positive for the two clubs as they have received a conditional yes.

Italian firm Manica are competing against American giants Populous to land the project with their respective ‘Wedding ring’ and ‘Cathedral’ designs.

A report on Calciomercato.com – who cite La Repubblica – claims that once the new stadium project is all in place, Milan’s valuation will go up by around €200million.

They refer to the Forbes valuation of the Rossoneri which currently stands at €526m, a far cry from the €1billion under Silvio Berlusconi.

As a result, Milan’s valuation could rocket up to anywhere around the €750m mark, showing the wheels are in motion for Elliott’s plan to raise the valuation back to €1bn.

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli could make a couple of key changes ahead of Thursday night’s home game against SPAL, reports claim.

The Rossoneri sacked Marco Giampaolo just 111 days into his reign after four defeats in his opening seven games, but things have not exactly picked up under his replacement Stefano Pioli.

A wasteful performance against Lecce in his debut as Milan manager was punished as a last minute equaliser denied all three points, while the team limped to a 2-1 defeat at the Stadio Olimpico against Roma on Sunday.

A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanEye on Twitter) on Monday suggested that Pioli could make a total of four changes to the starting XI he fielded in the capital.

Now, a report on Calciomercato.com – who cite SportMediaset – has concurred with that assessment by highlighting two changes in particular.

They claim that Lucas Biglia and Suso are set to be rested as the regista and right-winger respectively, with Ismael Bennacer set to replace the Argentine and Samu Castillejo in for his compatriot

AC Milan could make a move for one of two full-backs currently playing in Serie A to help fix their issues at right-back, a report claims.

The Rossoneri have struggled for any consistency on the right side of their defence so far this season, with Davide Calabria already having been sent off twice and Andrea Conti struggling to find any form.

It was claimed by La Gazzetta dello Sport earlier on Tuesday that Stefano Pioli could even choose to field natural centre-back Leo Duarte at right-back for Thursday’s game against SPAL.

Calciomercato.com stated last week that Paolo Maldini along with Zvonomir Boban and Ricky Massara will ‘intervene to resolve the problem’ in the January window.

Serge Aurier, Mehmet Celik, Djibril Sidibe and Youcef Atal were all mentioned as possible targets, but two more names are also being considered, according to Calciomercato.it.

They state that the versatile Timothy Castagne of Atalanta is attracting interest from Milan as he can play on either side.

The 23-year-old Belgium international has played six games in all competitions so far this season for the Bergamo-based club, scoring once.

Meanwhile, the outlet claims that contacts could resume for Roma full-back Alessandro Florenzi, a player who has been linked with a move to Milan in the past and was apparently considered in a possible swap deal involving Suso this summer.

The 28-year-old is the club’s captain and has played in seven of Roma’s nine league games so far this season, but it is possible that Leonardo Spinazzola displaces him in the line up on a more permanent basis soon

Torino side paid €500K to Milan for the loan, while the option to buy is set at €11.5m. However, unlike what was first reported, there are no conditions in the deal that could turn the option to buy into an obligation instead. Mazzarri is a big fan of Laxalt.

Milan could also pursue a reinforcement in the defense unless Mattia Caldara regains himself. After a small muscle hitch he returned once again to group training yesterday [GdS]

After having fielded Rafael Leao in his first two matches sitting on the Milan bench, coach Stefano Pioli is ready to give Kris #Piatek a chance from the first minute tomorrow night against Spal.

*Milan to sell Calabria?*

Milan are giving serious consideration to selling right-back Davide Calabria abroad, reports Tuttosport.
The defender, who grew up in Milan's youth academy, has been in poor form recently and this has led to the hierarchy at the club pondering a transfer.
Calabria has already been sent off twice this season for Milan, against Hellas Verona and Genoa, and his misplaced pass gave away a goal against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico last weekend.

The 23-year-old, born in Brescia, would represent a considerable profit for the Rossoneri, much in the same manner as other youth products Patrick Cutrone and Manuel Locatelli did when they were sold on.
Locatelli was sold to Sassuolo for €10m two summers ago, whilst Cutrone was sold to Wolves for an estimated €22m in July 2019.

SPAL Coach Leonardo Semplici was unhappy with Krzysztof Piatek and Ismael Bennacer after his side’s 1-0 defeat to Milan last night.
Suso came off the bench to score the winner for Milan, but the result didn’t go down well with Semplici, who felt Piatek wrongly tried to con the referee into awarding a penalty and that Bennacer should have been sent off.
“I’m angry because Milan deserved to win, but I’d like to watch back the goal and Piatek’s position, plus the possible second yellow for Bennacer,” said Semplici to Sky Sport after the match.

The result left SPAL stranded in the relegation zone, with a missed opportunity to climb out of the bottom three.
“We are small and of little interest to people, but we work hard to do what we need to, like everyone else. Maybe we would have lost anyway, but…
“We have to look for improvements in various aspects of our game and we know what we need to do.
“It did not go how we wanted, but we know our path and we’re convinced we will come through this complicated situation.”
The Biancazzurri have a crucial game coming up against fellow strugglers Sampdoria on Monday.

Former Milan chief Adriano Galliani claims Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso was once “on the verge” of buying the Rossoneri from Yonghong Li.

Commisso was heavily linked with a takeover before Elliott Management repossessed Milan during the summer of 2018, and the Italo-American tycoon has since pitched up at Fiorentina.
“Fiorentina are doing very well now,” Galliani told Calciomercato.com.

“Commisso was on the verge of buying Milan. I don’t understand why Yonghong Li didn’t sell Milan to him.
“He lost everything in a few days and Elliott took over. I never understood it.

“I met him in Milan, he made a great impression on me and what Li did remains a great mystery.
“Fiorentina got a great deal with Commisso. I also want to point out the Della Valles. I’d like to know what would’ve happened to Fiorentina without them.”

Also responsible for the Tuscans’ recent revival is another man with past links to the Diavolo – Coach Vincenzo Montella.
“I’m fond of Vincenzo. He won the last trophy of our ownership.”

Mateo Musacchio's performance against Lazio is called into question because of the injury to the long thigh adductor muscle. The 29-year-old will undergo detailed examinations in the near future.

Paqueta to Sky: “I tried to always keep working to always be in a position to take on the field I think that with Pioli the team is more comfortable. Before someone was not in his right place, another in a position that he didn’t like.” Milan Eye on Twitter

Milan coach Stefano Pioli discussed Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paquetá at the end of the Rossoneri’s 1-0 victory over SPAL last night, with Calciomercato.com noting his words.

“I'm realizing that you like talking about individual players a lot, but I don't like it. Paquetá I think he's done better than the others, but he can do even more. We put in a lot of spirit and quality.
We have to match them well to win more games.”

The Rossoneri’s victory yesterday sees them return to the top half of the table in 10th place, five points behind sixth place Napoli. SPAL’s defeat has left them 19th in the table, one point behind 17th place Genoa.

Paquetá has made eight appearances so far this season but has looked unconfident at the start of this season and has only contributed to a single goal, an assist against Genoa last month

Paqueta: “The coach is very direct in asking us certain things and this helps us. When you receive too much information it brings a bit of confusion but with him everything is clearer and he likes to be clear.“

Paqueta: “He [Pioli] makes players play in the position they prefer. This means that everyone can do their best and help Milan.”

Paqueta: “If a player is used in the position he prefers he gives more. Now this is happening, we just need to improve.”
