Juventus and Barcelona are monitoring the situation surrounding AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli, according to a report.

Claudio Raimondi has told SportMediaset (via MilanNews), that Milan want to bring forward the discussions over Romagnoli’s renewal, with his current contract set to expire on 30 June 2022.

Elliott Management have long wanted to sit down at the negotiating table with the club captain to discuss a renewal, even if they are aiming to get an agreement at a lower salary than the current one (€3.5m net per season) and closer to the €2.5m-a-year ceiling.

This solution does not seem to be particularly appreciated by Mino Raiola, the report continues, who would like to know the new project of Milan as soon as possible.

In the meantime, Raiola is listening to the other proposals for 25-year-old including that of Juventus, who want to lower the Rossoneri’s €50million asking price by including Daniele Rugani in the deal, even if Milan would prefer to get Merih Demiral.

Barcelona are also in the hunt and would offer the player a salary of at least €4million, and the Blaugrana are willing to include either Emerson de Souza or Jean-Clair Todibo in the deal.

FIGC has decided that Serie A, Serie B and Serie C can all resume, Serie D cannot and that the 2020-21 season can start on September 1.

The Federal Council was held today and Sky Sport Italia reports the FIGC made several key calls during the meeting.

The first concerns professional football, with Serie A, Serie B and Serie C given until August 20 to complete its respective campaigns.

The 19-20 season will be allowed to stretch to August 31 to ensure the conclusion of the Coppa Italia, which is at the semi-final second-leg stage.

There is also the will to fulfil all remaining fixtures in the three divisions, although Sky does not rule out playoffs or playouts in the top flight if that cannot happen.

However, Palermo may be forced to spend another year in Serie D as the FIGC called for a stop to the non-league calendar.

Serie A has already announced a provisional date of June 13 for its return, although the government has already stated that all football will remain suspended until a day later.

Sky claims A and B are already behind resuming on June 20 but also that the FIGC is ‘optimistic’ the government will let football leagues kick off earlier.

Finally, next term has been given the go-ahead to begin on September 1, with fixtures to follow after that date.

The fate of Italian football this season should be announced on May 28, when Minister for Sport Vincenzo Spadafora will meet with the FIGC, Serie A and other stakeholders.

Ralf Rangnick’s arrival at AC Milan is all but confirmed, with an ambitious youth revolution on the horizon. In addition to finding new talents on the market, he could bring some from RB Leipzig.

In recent weeks, the Rossoneri have been linked with many names and it’s certain that the revolution will extend beyond the management. With a focus on young but somewhat experienced players, Milan’s strategy for the summer seems pretty clear.

Speaking to MilanNews.it, the agent Gaetano Di Caro – part of Gdc Sport Management – was asked about Rangnick’s potential influence at Milan. Among other things, he stated that the German has requested Marcel Sabitzer ahead of next season.

“Here in Germany, there are rumours that Rangnick is already in full harmony with Elliott and Gazidis for some players who haven’t been named yet, such as Marcel Sabitzer.

“He’s a very strong player. As far as I know, he’s a specific request from Rangnick in case he takes over Milan,” he concluded.

As added by Antonio Vitiello, though, there are no ongoing negotiations between the parties. It remains to be seen if there is something concrete behind the rumours, as Rangnick’s hasn’t even been confirmed as the new Milan boss.

After leaving AC Milan last summer, Tiemoue Bakayoko could make a return to the club just one year later. Currently on loan at Monaco, the latter have no intention of redeeming him at the end of the season

According to Alessandro Jacobone, Bakayoko is dreaming of a return to the Rossoneri and has told his entourage to send signals to the club. However, the transfer can only materialize on two conditions.

Zlatan just had an injury and report says it might end his football career

AC Milan are interested in the idea of acquiring Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic in a swap deal, a report claims.

According to Monday’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive), Milan will try and use unsettled midfielder Lucas Paquetá as an exchange pawn. After the attempt to land Florentino Luis from Benfica using Paqueta as a counterpart, there is another potential deal with Fiorentina for Milenkovic.

However, the paper notes that there is nothing concrete currently ongoing, but the idea within Casa Milan could really take off if La Viola were to insist on the Brazilian.

The Rossoneri want a centre-back to support Alessio Romagnoli and the Serbia international could be an interesting solution. The director of a possible operation would be Fali Ramadani, agent of Ante Rebic and Luka Jovic.

The interest of the Tuscan club for Paqueta is concrete, and they made an attempt to sign him in January but were scared off by the €30million asking price. Now, that figure is between €25-28million, but the insertion of Milenkovic could unlock everything.

AC Milan are determined to complete the purchase of Ante Rebic from Eintracht Frankfurt this summer, according to a report.

Monday’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive) notes how Milan are ready to try and reunite the Rebic and Luka Jovic tandem that was so fearsome at Eintracht Frankfurt last season.

First of all though the Rossoneri must ensure that the Croatia international will stay beyond next summer. Rebic arrived on a two-year loan from the Bundesliga side, but Milan have no option or obligation to buy. Everything will therefore have to be renegotiated, with the German club ready to leverage on his impressive showing in 2020 to get as much as possible.

But Milan have two cards to play: one is the strength of the player’s willingness to remain, and the other is to insert André Silva to lower the price tag.

They will try to delay the talks as close to the end of the loan as possible too as Rebic’s deal expires in 2022, something that is likely to mean Eintracht cannot demand a huge fee.

Chelsea-owned midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko would like to return to Milan this summer, a report claims, but there are two hurdles to overcome.

As Tuttosport reports on Monday (via MilanLive), news have filtered from the player’s entourage that the Frenchman wishes to have a second spell with the Rossoneri after impressing on loan under Gennaro Gattuso in 2018-19.

In addition to this, prospective new manager Ralf Rangnick has already given the green light for Milan to pursue Bakayoko as he is a player that the German appreciates both for his characteristics and international experience.

However, there are two issues at present, both of which are economic. Milan have long since entered a phase of austerity which requires them to improve their accounts in relation to Financial Fair Play.

As a result, Elliott Management want to impose a salary cap of €3m per year per player. Bakayoko, on the other hand, boasts a salary of €6.5m-a-year, and even if he agreed to take a cut there is the problem of his transfer fee.

Chelsea asked for €35million to buy the player outright after his loan at Milan, and while his value is now slightly lower it is not low by any means, while Milan’s budget ranges between €75-80million.
