The former Everton winger looked back on what it was like rooming with the Swedish star while at Ajax
Former Everton winger Steven Pienaar has revealed that he once had to escape a hotel fire while room-mates with Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Ajax, but not before the Swedish star asked him to go back and grab his bags first.

The two played together at the Dutch club as youngsters, with Pienaar featuring from 2001 to 2006 after joining from Ajax Cape Town in his native South Africa.

Ibrahimovic, meanwhile, was with Ajax from 2001 to 2004 before heading to Juventus to continue what turned out to be a legendary career across Europe.

*Florentino Luis continues to be linked with a move to AC Milan. As reported by MilanNews.it, the Rossoneri are in talks with Benfica to sign the 20-year-old this summer, reinforcing the midfield to fit the youth revolution.*

In January, Milan made a serious attempt to sign the youngster but Benfica eventually stopped it all. However, the Rossoneri continued to work under the radar and an agreement has been reached on the formula: a loan with an option to buy.

There is still no agreement on the figures, also because of the Coronavirus outbreak, but the clubs are working on it. Benfica didn’t want to sell him in January because they thought Florentino could become important in the second part of the season.

In reality, though he only took the field twice before the league was suspended. Both Serie A and La Liga NOS could resume very soon, and thus the clubs have put all negotiations on hold until after the season is over.

Florentino has convinced Milan and as happened with Ismael Bennacer and Theo Hernandez, they are ready to insist and invest. In addition to fitting the parameters of Elliott Management, the midfielder would also be suitable for Ralf Rangnick’s ideas.

*Lille star Victor Osimhen is set to snub interest from a number of big European clubs in order to remain in France this summer, a report claims.*

Calciomercato.com recently reported that Milan are looking at potential replacements for Zlatan Ibrahimovic and while Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic is the priority, Osimhen is also a player the club are watching.

It has been suggested that Osimhen could command a fee of up to €60m this summer with Real Madrid among those strongly linked.

According to the latest from Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (via MilanLive), Milan are not the only team keen on the 21-year-old, as Premier League trio Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are also credited with interest.

Nonetheless, the report cites sources close to the player and reveals that he has decided to stay at Lille for another season and will therefore refuse a move away in the upcoming window.

Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss (via Area Napoli) earlier on Tuesday, Italian journalist Diego De Luca also revealed that Liverpool and Spurs have made big offers.

“Victor Osimhen? He is a player owned by Lille,” the journalist said. “The deal is very complicated because there are various teams on the player.

“Liverpool and Tottenham have offered €70million for the player. In the short term, there may be some news on the renewal issue.”

On Monday, May 25th, AC Milan captain Valentina Giacinti confirmed that the Rossonere would resume individual training this week.

The captain’s confirmation comes one week after coach Maurizio Ganz confirmed that the women would undergo testing for COVID-19, before resuming individual training.

On Tuesday, the team officially started training again.

AC Milan are the second team in Serie A Femminile to resume training, after Juventus.

Juventus has a head start over Milan, as they started training their players over a week ago.

The Rossonere are resuming training for a possible resumption of the league.
Serie A Femminile was initially set to be canceled for the season, due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. However, after some successful lobbying, the league was brought back from the precipice. The Italian government is now working on helping the league finish the season.

The main thing preventing the league from restarting is the issue of funding. While teams like Milan and Juventus can afford to adhere to the government’s health protocols for the resumption of play, as they are backed by wealthy men’s teams, other teams in the league can’t.

In particular, teams like Tavagnacco, Orobica, and Pink Bari can’t afford to pay for everything they’ll need to keep their players safe. Pink Bari has made their opposition to the health government’s health protocols well-known. Team doctor, Chiara Marini, has said that the health guidelines ‘are impracticable’. She also stated her team would also not be able to guarantee compliance with the protocols, as they simply can’t afford to do so.

They may soon be receiving help in this regard, however. The Italian government reportedly has €11 million in funds that are available for the league. The confirmation comes courtesy of senator Tommaso Nannicini (Democratic Party). Nannicini was also one of the senators who introduced an amendment that would allow Serie A Femminile to professionalize.

The senator is proposing that the money be utilized to not only help the league resume play but to also help them professionalize as well. As it stands, the players of Serie A Femminile are still amateurs. This might change in the near future though, as sports minister Vincenzo Spadafora has confirmed that professionalizing the league is on the government’s agenda.

How will AC Milan’s midfield look next season? To date, it’s very difficult to answer this question, mostly because of the uncertainty we find ourselves in but also because of the many targets that have been linked with the club.

As highlighted by MilanNews.it, Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura will leave the club this summer as their contracts will expire. Lucas Paqueta also seems destined to leave and the only fixed point remains Ismael Bennacer, who will be the leader.

In recent weeks, three names have been consistently linked with Milan: Florentino Luis, Dominik Szoboszlai and Tiemoue Bakayoko. The Portuguese has been identified as the ideal partner for Bennacer, so much that there is an agreement in principle with Benfica.

The Hungarian, meanwhile, would be an addition for the flank in a more advanced position. He would be similar to Milinkovic-Savic tactically, who has had great success at Lazio. As for the Frenchman, we already know his position as a central midfielder.

If Milan were to bet on Szoboszlai, as the report continues, it’s difficult to imagine a two-man midfield. The feeling, instead, is that Milan will return to a three-man midfield with Florentino as the deep-lying player.

Could Bennacer-Florentino-Szoboszlai be a suitable trio? On paper, yes, but it might take some time. However, the situation obviously depends on Ralf Rangnick’s formation, but that’s something for the German to figure out.

Sempre Milan are reporting that there is good news on the renewals front for AC Milan as the club is determined to tie down Gianluigi Donnarumma and Alessio Romagnoli to long term contracts.

The two are the core of Milan and are leaders in the team. The report notes that Gigio is determined to renew based on his love for the club and the red and black colours. The report also notes that Gigio could get a slightly smaller contract or his same 6 million a year deal over another five years with bonuses related to Champions League qualification. The duo are centre pieces for not just Milan but also for Italy's national team.

In the case of Romagnoli, the club are moving forward to renew his deal as he has the desire to win with the club as Captain. The focus of the renewals is the heart of the defence and players who embody the red and black spirit. Both Donnarumma and Romagnoli have an insane number of appearances with the club given their tender ages with 190 and 181 appearances respectively. Both have only won one minor trophy, the 2017 Supercoppa
