Ismael Bennacer, who joined the Rossoneri about a year ago from Empoli, is one of the players that has continued to improve throughout the season. Playing alongside Franck Kessie, he has been vital for the team.

Although Marco Giampaolo felt the Algerian needed time before becoming a starter, as highlighted by MilanNews.it, Stefano Pioli decided to focus on him right away. The midfielder repaid this trust and quickly became a cornerstone of the team.

Bennacer arrived from Empoli, who had just been relegated to Serie B at the time, for a figure close to โ‚ฌ16m. An important investment for a player who, however, had offered convincing performances in his first year in Serie A.

He even attracted the interest of other European clubs such as Lyon, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund, as the report continues. Milan moved in advanced and managed to close the deal before the African Cup of Nations, of which Bennacer was the MVP.

The transfer to Milan, however, hasnโ€™t been all smiles for the 22-year-old, at least not at the beginning. The relationship with Giampaolo didnโ€™t take off and he certainly struggled to regain confidence in the first months.

Just take the game against Fiorentina as an example, which the Rossoneri lost by three goals to one. Bennacer caused two penalties and was clearly in difficulty, just like the rest of the team. His position, though, made his mistakes very clear.

The horror start didnโ€™t stop him, though, becoming an undisputed starter in Stefano Pioliโ€™s team. In the 4-2-3-1 formation, Bennacer acts both as a screen in front of the defence and as a โ€˜washing machineโ€™, receiving and cleaning most of the balls that his teammates pass him โ€“ always at a very high intensity.

Furthermore, among the players with 30 or more dribbling attempts in Serie A this season, Bennacer is the one with the highest success rate (80.4%). Game after game, Milanโ€™s midfield leader has become increasingly familiar with the ball and his role.

Heโ€™s one of the best Milan signings in recent years, as well as one of the best young midfielders in Serie A.

Chelsea lower asking price for Milan target, agreement close
Posted on August 6, 2020 by Rossonero

AC Milan are close to reaching an agreement for Tiemoue Bakayoko with Chelsea willing to lower their asking price.
When the summer transfer window opens AC Milan are expected to make an important singing in midfield. The names being linked with the Rossoneri are the usual: Sandro Tonali, Florentino Luis and Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The Italian prodigy costs 40 million euros. Benfica are open to sell Florentino but it will be for a similar price thus the most easy option for AC Milan is the French defensive midfielder.

According to journalist Nico Schira, Bakayoko is not part of Frank Lampardโ€™s plans and Chelsea have decided to sell him this summer. Schira reports that Chelsea are willing to let him go for at least 20 million euros.

That figure is music to AC Milanโ€™s ears and Paolo Maldini is already negotiating a deal. The player is eager to return in Italy reports La Gazzetta dello Sport. The only obstacle is the high salary of Bakayoko who currently ears 7 million per season at Chelsea. Nevertheless, the 25-year-old midfielder is ready to spread his wages in a five-year deal.

AC Milan signed Tiemoue Bakayoko on a one-year loan in 2018. After a difficult start the former Monaco became a key player for AC Milan making 42 appearances. At the end of the season he returned to England after Milan refused to exercise their option of 40 million euros.

๐Ÿ“ฐChris Wheatley: There are confirmations on AC Milan's interest in Lucas Torreira. The Rossoneri are the frontrunners to sign him, this summer.
It is understood that a loan move is most likely option. https://t.co/JXmY2PcQrc

AC Milan to make ambitious Chiesa bid
Posted on August 7, 2020 by Rossonero

AC Milan will try everything in order to please coach Stefano Pioli and purchase Federico Chiesa from Fiorentina.
Thanks to a fantastic second half of the season, AC Milan managed to qualify for Europa League. Although itโ€™s not Champions, participation in Europa League will help Milan earn some extra cash, in addition to helping the Rossoneri players gain valuable experience in European competitions. Now itโ€™s time for Maldini to do the talk.

Coach Stefano Pioli has asked the club to sign his two former Fiorentina players Nikola Milenkovic and Federico Chiesa. Pioli has personally expressed to Gazidis that AC Milan desperately need someone like Chiesa in order to improve the general level of the team and aim for a place in Champions League next season.

The Fiorentina president is aware that the Italian winger wants to leave Firenze this summer. In a recent interview, Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso confirmed that Federico Chiesa is free to leave if any club offers 70 million euros. Unlike other clubs, Milan can play the Paqueta card.

After extensive talks in January, the Brazilian midfielder seems oriented to accept Fiorentina as his next destination. According to reports in Italy, AC Milan will offer Lucas Paqueta in exchange for Federico Chiesa plus a figure of 40 million euros.

It seems that Milanโ€™s resumed interest in Bakayoko, who can leave for a minimum figure of 20 million, rather than Sandro Tonali and Florentino Luis, is with the idea of saving money in order to invest for the 22-year-old winger.

๐Ÿ“ฐGazzetta: Despite the โ‚ฌ120M release clause built in his contract, Benfica could let their 20-year old midfielder, Florentino Luis, join AC Milan on a 2-year loan deal with an obligation to buy set around โ‚ฌ35M-โ‚ฌ40M.

Thoughts? https://t.co/I6jxVJ3bIH

The club wishes to offload Paqueta, but in case there are no suitors willing to buy him, Milan might end up loaning the Brazilian out or possibly make him a vice-Hakan Calhanoglu.

The market will close in October, so there is a lot of time. The upcoming weeks are very interesting and will decide a lot with regards to the future. [Calciomercato]

*Report: Aston Villa face competition from Spain for Reina โ€“ why Milan can smile*

Milan are expected to part ways with several players ahead of next season, starting with those one expiring contracts (bar Zlatan Ibrahimovic). Pepe Reina has one year left but is set to leave anyway, a report claims.

The Rossoneri are keen on parting ways with the Spanish goalkeeper, who earns โ‚ฌ3.5m per year. Of course, that is too much to pay for a back-up goalkeeper. According to Alessandro Jacobone on Twitter, at least two clubs are interested.

In fact, a Spanish club has made a contract offer for the 37-year-old, although the name of the club is yet to be revealed. Furthermore, Aston Villa want to keep him for next season, pleased with how the six-month loan turned out.

Regardless of what his next destination will be, Reinaโ€™s days at Milan are seemingly over. This also means that the Rossoneri need to find a new back-up goalkeeper, as Asmir Begovic will return to Bournemouth as per the loan agreement.

*Tuttosport: Ibrahimovicโ€™s importance extends beyond the pitch โ€“ his complete role at Milan*

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is destined to stay at Milan beyond his current contract, which will expire at the end of the month. However, his importance will extend beyond his positive impact on the pitch and in the locker room.

Todayโ€™s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews) analysed what it means for the Rossoneri to keep him. Of course, we all know how important he is on the pitch, fuelling his teammates and constantly asking for more.

Off the pitch, though, he is just as important. The Swede is known for his own ventures and investments, putting his celebrity status and money to good use. For Milan, he is a great attraction for sponsors and marketing initiatives.

Recently, as the newspaper continues, Ibrahimovic was the protagonist of both the launch of the new shirt and the partnership between Milan and EA Sports. This, inevitably, is an element in favour of the Rossoneriโ€™s bank account.

"Being a player and being a coach is really not the same thing at all," Gattuso added.
"It's a totally different profession and we can't learn it just from books, we need to get in there and work hard. It's a different world."
Gattuso advise to pirlo..

Ricardo Rodriguez to Torino. Meeting tomorrow in Casa Milan to close the deal. Rodriguez gave his consent

Alessandro Costacurta, former teammate and great friend of Pirlo, spoke about him taking over as Juve coach: "We know Andrea's personality and charisma, despite what he may seem in front of the cameras.
Pirlo is an intelligent person who always knows what to say. The problem to understand if he will be able to talk to that type of players.
A risky choice, thereโ€™s no doubt, both for Andrea & Juve, but it is certainly a good bet.
I didn't expect it, not even him in my opinion, at least according to what we said 2 days ago"

GdS: Milan hatch a plan regarding future of Andre Silva and Ante Rebic โ€“ the details

Ante Rebic

AC Milan have hatched a plan regarding the future of Ante Rebic, a report claims, but it does not involve a permanent purchase for now.

Rebic ended the season as Milanโ€™s top scorer having netted 11 times in Serie A, but that came after a first half of the season in which he struggled to get playing time.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive), his loan agreement from Eintracht Frankfurt will expire in June 2021, but there is a willingness to continue together even beyond that.

The paper adds that the Rossoneri have thought of a way to lock Rebic without buying him on a permanent basis.

The idea is to extend the loan of both Rebic at Milan and Andrรฉ Silva at Eintracht. The two forwards will have to renew their respective contracts until 2023. Then, they would have to agree to the loans being extended for another year, until June 30 2022.

Milan are hoping that they will have greater availability and economic freedom on the market down the line to be able to negotiate Rebicโ€™s permanent transfer.

Meanwhile Stefano Pioli is studying how to replace Rebic in the preliminary rounds of the Europa League. The Croatian will have to serve three rounds of disqualification and therefore will miss the first phase of the tournament.

MN: Milan in talks with Fiorentina over three star players as Inter and Juventus drop out

chiesa milenkovic

AC Milan are in talks with Fiorentina regarding the signings of three of their star players, according to a report.

MilanNews claim that head coach Stefano Pioli has specifically asked for the signing of Nikola Milenkovic, who they believe is the perfect back-up to Simon Kjaer and a player who could eventually take a starting spot.

Pioli was the one who essentially launched his career at Fiorentina, and the Rossoneri are keen to bolster their rearguard this summer, so on the face of things it is a match mate in heaving.

Milan will need to improve their attack, and the report claims that Milan are also in talks with La Viola over striker Dusan Vlahovic and winger Federico Chiesa.

The former would be the ideal deputy to Ibrahimovic but it will be difficult to snatch him from Fiorentina, who will demand a high price. The same thing could be said about Chiesa, but in this case the contract expiry of 2022 is destined to take away power from the Tuscan clubs and reduce their demands over the next few weeks.

Juventus are out of the running having signed Kulusevski while Inter have signed Hakimi for the wing-back role so look unlikely to mae a move, which is why in the end Milan could be the last team standing.

Lucas Paqueta would almost certainly have to be included as a counterpart, but he is a player that Fiorentinaโ€™s sporting director Pradรจ is fond of.

Chiesa would represent an incredible upgrade on Castillejo and Saelemaekers, as he scored 10 goals with 9 assists, contributing to almost 40% of his teamโ€™s goals in the league.
