BMilan’s goal for this time next year is to have secure a top four finish, but their objective for the short term is to build a squad capable of doing that.

According to Calciomercato.it , the Rossoneri will make efforts in the transfer market to shore up the midfield and will even invest in the attack once Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s renewal is solved.

With Giacomo Bonaventura and Lucas Biglia having left, the focus is more about signings rather than sale, but the report begins by mentioning that Paris Saint-Germain have maintained an interest in Ismael Bennacer, valued at around €50m.

The Algeria international has a €50m release clause that isn’t active until next year and must be paid immediately in one instalment, meaning the management are feeling calm.

Milan want to sign Tiemoué Bakayoko from Chelsea to replace Biglia and provide competition for Franck Kessie, and it is reported that Maldini and his collaborators could shell out a figure close to €30m to bring the Frenchman back.

Regarding Kessié, the Ivorian midfielder showed all his worth and importance in the final part of the season. In recent weeks there has been talk of a possible interest from Antonio Conte’s, but his future is at Milan, Calciomercato add.

Moving to the wingers, Alexis Saelemaekers and Ante Rebic will stay, and the latter will join on a permanent basis at some point.

Fiorentina star Federico Chiesa is firmly in the crosshairs and the starting point of negotiations should be around €50m, even if the figure leaked in the media is €70m. The Rossoneri could leverage the interest of La Viola in Lucas Paqueta to bring that price down.,

Hakan Calhanoglu is moving towards confirming his stay, meanwhile, as there is confidence regarding the renewal of his current contract which expires next June.
Samu Castillejo should remain too, while the idea of a potential return for Gerard Deulofeu cannot be completely excluded.

The priority is undoubtedly the renewal of Ibrahimovic, but there are several names who could join him as rotation options. The first Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic, whose valuation is around €40million and he appears to be on the fringes of Real Madrid’s plans.

Finally, Rafael Leao should stay too thanks to his post-lockdown performances, having netted four times in the last 12 games.

Milan are facing a similar dilemma this summer to the one they faced a year ago with Andre Silva, a report claims.
As MilanNews notes, the only player who didn’t capitalise on the team’s recovery after the resumption of Serie A was arguably Paqueta, although other like Lucas Biglia and those injured should also be considered.

In recent months, the Brazilian has played less than Giacomo Bonaventura, a player destined to leave due to his contract expiry. Milan seemed close to letting him leave in the January window, but a deal didn’t materialise.

Milan’s problem essentially stemmed from the fact they paid €38million last January to sign the 22-year-old, meaning he has a residual value on the balance sheet of about €25million.

No team is expected to pay that amount this summer, so the solutions are a loan with an option to buy, or a possible obligation linked to certain conditions or an immediate exchange with another player.

Interestingly, the report alludes to the Ante Rebic/André Silva swap deal – a two-year dry loan exchange between two players sharing the same contractual duration.

As it stands, Paquetà would be the first alternative to Hakan Calhanoglu for the role of attacking midfielder, but it is clear that signing another player is at the moment a priority.

The departure of Paqueta, even if not outright, would free an important place and would allow Milan to purchase a more functional player.

Fabio Capello on Thiago Silva
"If I was a Serie A coach and needed a defender I would take Thiago Silva. He could still play in Italy for the next 2 years with a cigarette in his mouth"
Would you like to see Thiago Silva return to Milan?

According to Tuttosport (via MilanLive), a number of clubs like Torino, Bologna, Real Betis and Sevilla have all been tentatively linked with Davide Calabria.

However, Milan have not yet received any offer for the full-back and the management are waiting for the suitors to come forward with the hope of starting an auction of some sorts.

CM: Milan battling rivals Inter for signature of Ukraine international defender

By Oliver Fisher - 14 August 2020, 9:49

Both AC Milan and Inter are interested in signing Dynamo Kiev defender Vitaliy Mykolenko this summer, according to a report.

Milan are working to find a credible deputy to Theo Hernandez, with Ricardo Rodriguez closing in on a move to Torino and Lokomotiv Moscow showing interest in Diego Laxalt

Antonee Robinson of Wigan and Matias Viña of Palmeiras have been mentioned on the list of candidates to be Theo’s new back-up, but now another name has come back into fashion.

According to Calciomercato.com, both Milan and Inter are in the running to land Vitaliy Mykolenko, a 21-year-old Ukraine international who is under contract with Dynamo Kiev until 2023.

It has previously been mentioned by the same outlet that Mykolenko does not have an EU passport, something which may be a sticking point in the pursuit, but he is still an intriguing profile and one of the brightest talents of Shevchenko’s Ukraine set-up.

MN: Selling to buy and a big investment on a winger – Milan’s plan for a sustainable summer

By Oliver Fisher - 14 August 2020, 10:04

Sustainable investment seems to be the buzz phrase for AC Milan at the moment as they look to build a top four squad without over spending.

As MilanNews notes, the Rossoneri earned €24million from the sale of Suso – a full capital gain. The club have already spent €7million to make the loan deals for Simon Kjaer and Alexis Saelemaekers into permanent ones, but it is clear that there is still room for a significant purchase.

Ricardo Rodriguez looks set to join Torino and an important saving will be made on his gross salary, while the same can be said for Pepe Reina who is attracting strong interest from Valencia.

If the duo were to leave, Milan would save over €10million across the two gross salaries, a considerable amount given that the replacements will not earn anywhere close to that.

Milan are set to invest in specific roles, the report adds, namely a central defender, right-back, midfielder and a winger.

A big cash sum is not expected to be spent on a centre-back and a swap deal could allow Milan to land a major target, like a Nikola Milenkovic-Lucas Paquetà exchange.

The purchase of a right-back should be at least part financed by the possible sale of Calabria, whose departure will generate a pure capital gain.

The goal in midfield has now been identified and is Tiemoué Bakayoko, who could also come on a loan, postponing the investment for a year.

The rest of the “cash” availability should therefore be reserved mainly for the attacking department, where Milan will have to go to buy at least one winger, or even two if Paquetà were to leave.

In this sense, however, it is necessary to remember Suso’s capital gain, an important sum that should be destined precisely to that sector of the field.
