Daniele Bonera says he is happy to reunite with his former
teammate Gennaro Gattuso and reveals Zlatan Ibrahimovic
‘needed a break.’

The former Rossoneri defender will replace Stefano Pioli and
his assistant who have tested positive for Covid.

“I am very happy to return to Naples and find Rino as an
opponent,” Bonera said at a press conference.

"He was a friend on the field and he continues to be one
outside, there will be space after the game for an affectionate
greeting,” he continued.
"All games are very important, I don’t see it as a final exam, I
believe in the responsibility of the players, it’s just a small
piece, it’s a long way before the end of the season.”

Bonera has overseen the team in Milanello this week, keeping
contact with Pioli. Will the same happen on Sunday?
“I’ve never felt alone. I was always in close contact with the
coach. I thank the club for what they have done on a
technological level. I had carte blanche during training
sessions.

“As for the game, we don’t want to create confusion. We
thought of having a pre-match meeting, then if there are
important things, we will have another check at the end of the
first half.

“It’s going to be a tough game but we want to impose
ourselves. Everyone feels well, Leao had that problem and he
will be evaluated again in 10 days. Today we have a new
training and tomorrow we leave for Napoli.”

Ante Rebic will start on the left to replace Leao.
"Ante is an important player, he must have a good condition
for his characteristics,” said Bonera.

“We know that he is not 100% fit because the elbow problem
still affects him when he moves.

"As for Ibra, he needed to have a break even mentally, he’s
always presented himself as a group leader, we know his
importance.

“The team has grown in terms of responsibility and culture of
work. Seeing the players who came back from the national
team only to say hello and do therapies has filled me with
pride.”

Ibra won’t kick a penalty if Milan will have one.
"Ibra said it, I raise my hands, if he said it, it will be Franck
[Kessie, to take it].”

Hakan Calhanoglu is in talks to renew his expiring contract but
an agreement seems to be far away.

"We are very happy with the performance of Calhanoglu, I
don’t want to speak about his contract but yesterday he made
me understand that he cares about this shirt.”

Ibrahimovic equals Serie A record
Football Italia2 Hours Ago

Comments
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has become only the fourth player to score in each of his first six Serie A games of the season in the three points for a win era.

The 39-year-old Swede got his head to a Theo Hernandez cross to give Milan the half-time lead away to Napoli this evening.

Simply beating Alex Meret into the far bottom corner allowed him to equal a remarkable record.

In the era of three points for a win, only three players had previously managed to find the net in each of their first six Serie A appearances of the season.

They were Gabriel Batistuta for Fiorentina in 1994-95, Christian Vieri at Inter in 2002-03 and Genoa’s Krzysztof Piatek in 2018-19.

It also allowed Ibra to go back to the top of the Capocannoniere charts, having been caught by Cristiano Ronaldo on eight this weekend.

➤ Milan’s last Serie A win against Napoli at the San Paolo dates back to October 2010, secured thanks to goals from Robinho and Ibrahimović.

➤ Milan haven’t scored three goals away at Napoli in Serie A since November 1992 (1-5).

➤ Ibrahimović has scored 10 goals in the opening eight Serie A matches this season. Only two other Milan players have achieved such a feat in the past: van Basten with 12 in 1992-93 and Nordahl with 10 in 1950-51.

Milan secured a 3-1 victory against Napoli to reclaim the top spot in the league. Zlatan Ibrahimovic bagged himself another brace and Jens Petter Hauge score his first goal in the league to seal the deal.

Starting XI

Donnarumma (6.5): Solid performance from the young keeper who made a couple of great and crucial saves.

Calabria (6): Although he was a bit shaky at times, the right-back was decent enough to limit the opposition’s movements on the right side.

Kjaer (6.5): An irreproachable display by Kjaer who continues to be the most consistent defender on the team. Had an injury scare early on but was able to continue the game, luckily.

Romagnoli (6): The captain hasn’t quite looked like himself in the past few games and unfortunately, today was no exception as his poor form continues. Should have done better on Napoli’s goal.

Hernandez (7.5): Solid defensively and incredible when going forward, Theo delivered what could be considered his best performance this season with an assist and countless recoveries in defence.

Kessie (6.5): Fearless and imposing, Kessie once again left his mark on the midfield and made it impossible for the opposition to dominate the game.

Bennacer (7): An impeccable performance from the midfielder as he dictated the rhythm of the game and was Napoli’s biggest nightmare in the midfield. His vision and determination to chase every ball helped his team move the ball quickly during counters.

Saelemaekers (5.5): Not only did the Belgian fail to have any sort of impact on the game, but he was also a liability most of the time with a few misplaced passes and terrible decision-making in the final third.

Calhanoglu (6): Uninspired performance from the Turkish who looked distracted and uninterested for the most part. Did set Rebic free just before Ibrahimovic’s second goal, but didn’t creat much else.

Rebic (6.5): Despite an underwhelming first half, Rebic proved he’s still a player his teammates can count on by delivering an amazing assist to Ibra in the second half. Overall, he was more helpful in defence than he was an attacking threat.

Ibrahimovic (7.5) MOTM: With a brace, the Swede once again proved why he’s the most important player in this young team. Two fantastic goals and hopefully the injury isn’t too serious for him.

Substitutions

Hauge (7): With an incredible goal, Hauge was more than a simple spectator and was a big factor in Milan’s win as he tracked back and contributed to the build-up as well.

Castillejo (5): Misplaced passes and poor decision-making, Samu did not improve the attack, he made it worse.

Colombo (5.5): His inexperience was a burden against an experienced Napoli side as he failed to impress after replacing an injured Ibrahimovic. Didn’t have many chances on the ball, though.

What a night for Bodo!

Who will replace Zlatan at Milan?

Milan are set to be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic for at least three games over the next 10 days, but who could replace the Swede?

The veteran is set to be out with a hamstring injury for at least 10 days, when he will be examined again and reports in Italy claim the Rossoneri could end up being without the centre-forward for a month.

Milan revealed he will need a new assessment to determine the extent of the injury in 10 days, meaning he will already sit out against Lille and Celtic in the Europa League, and the match against Fiorentina in Serie A this weekend.

If the Swede remains out of action up to a month, Stefano Pioli will have to replace him for the Serie A matches against Sampdoria, Parma, Genoa and Sassuolo too.

Lazio arrive at San Siro a month from today on December 23, in the last fixture ahead of the winter break in the League, whilst the Diavolo play Sparta Prague on December 10 in Czech Republic.

Pioli has various options up front and could give youngster Lorenzo Colombo a chance to shine in the veteran’s absence.

Ibrahimovic has scored 10 goals in six Serie A games this term, missing two at the start of the season due to COVID-19.

The 21-year-old Portuguese forward Rafael Leao has played at left in an attacking trident so far in Serie A and has contributed two goals and three assists from the wing.

However, his main position has previously been a centre-forward and he could be an option to do a job up front.

But it seems more likely that Croatia international Ante Rebic will be moved to the centre of the attack and spearhead the Rossoneri like he did at times last season.

Rebic has yet to score in Serie A this term but he contributed 11 goals in the second half of the campaign last term and played a huge part in bringing Milan back to Europe.

The 27-year-old was suspended for the Europa League preliminaries, when Ibrahimovic missed four games in total after testing positive for coronavirus ahead of the second qualifying round against Bodo/Glimt.

Colombo and Daniel Maldini therefore got the chance to play up front against Bodo/Glimt and Rio Ave respectively.

In Zlatan’s absence, Milan won four out of four, but his impact in the League has since been remarkable, helping the Diavolo to the top of the standings with 20 points from eight games.

Galliani to Libero: "Muntari's goal against Juventus would have changed history. We would have won a 2nd Scudetto in a row. we would not have sold Ibra and Thiago Silva. We could have started again with the fourth great Milan and I would have closed the signing of Tevez."

📰 Gianluca Di Marzio: Milan has eyes on Melayro Bogarde. He is an 18 year-old Dutch centre-back who plays for Hoffenheim.
His contract expires on June 30. Barcelona is also interested.
The 2 clubs could sign him next summer on a free or in January by paying a small fee. https://t.co/FtdkXTK3r2
