Congratulations to Theo Hernandez for winning Serie A player of December ⭐

Former Milan striker George Weah believes Juventus remain the favourite to win the Serie A title and insists Cristiano Ronaldo is not the best player in the world.

The Rossoneri legend shared his thoughts on the Serie A title race in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Milan have begun a new, brilliant path. The culture of victory is part of the Rossoneri’s DNA,” the ex striker said.

“Paolo [Maldini] is a great man and a good friend of mine, he was an amazing captain. He is a hard worker, he knows what it takes to reach the highest levels, Inter, Juventus and Napoli remain competitive rivals for Milan. I don’t know if they will win the title, but they will fight until the end,” he continued.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo keep scoring.

“Ibra is strong and confident, but there is more behind this. Milan signed him because he can be every useful for young players. He is an example and an inspiration for them.

“He is always focused and he gives everything for his passion. If you work hard and don’t lose your passion, then age is just a number. Think about Pietro Vierchowood, Franco Baresi or Paolo Maldini, they all played at high level until almost 40 years of age.

“Ronaldo is also testimony to how combining hard work and passion can bring unexpected results. He is not the best in the world, but he trained so much to become the best. I am a fan of Ronaldo because he remained humble and he earned everything he achieved. He fought to get where he is now."

How about Romelu Lukaku?

“He is proving how strong he is, he didn’t always get the credit he deserved and his story is similar to mine.

“When I left France to move to Italy, people thought I would not make it, because Serie A was such a strong league. I did very well instead, and I think Lukaku is doing the same, he is improving, he is a more complete striker now.”

Weah, however, believes Juventus remain the favourite to win the title.

“First of all, because I supported the Bianconeri as a child, secondly because they’ve won the Scudetto for the last nine years in a row," he said.

“I used to watch Serie A and French football in Africa, they were showing the images of Platini and I got attached to Juventus.

“Then my life brought me to Milan where I found a family and a special environment. Milan gave me everything, but I kept supporting Juve.”

Coach Stefano Pioli spoke during the press conference ahead of the match against Atalantafor Serie A matchday 19 at the San Siro. He had this to say to the media:

On the team’s focus for the next game:

“Being aware of your qualities is very important, beyond our certainties we have great respect in our opponents. Atalanta are strong, we must congratulate them, they have been in the Champions League for two years, they are doing a great job, but tomorrow we have to enter a competition of intensity and try to win.”

Theo is back, how important is this news for you?

“I am very satisfied to have him available. Maybe he also needed a rest. Dalot has replaced him very well but Theo guarantees us many solutions in the defensive and offensive phase.”

Atalanta have drawn their recent two matches…

“They are playing well and are doing great as a club and as players. The fact that they have not won the last two matches means that our league is very competitive. Atalanta will make their qualities available tomorrow. Two teams tomorrow play against each other and both are first in the standings for the number of tackles, it will also be a physical match.”

How did you find Mandzukic?

“He immediately fit in well, he has already worked in Italy. He has a European mentality. Zero problems, a lot of positivity and determination in his arrival. Physically I found him very well, he hasn’t played for a long time but he showed up tight and eager.”

How are Rebic and Krunic?

“I saw a lot of happiness, they couldn’t wait to return. They trained a little yesterday and today with the team, soon they will be able to be available to play again.”

How do you evaluate the transfer market made by Milan?

“I would like to thank the owners and the club for being ready. Our objective does not change, we want to try to finish in the top four, it’s a seven-team race.”

Can Ibrahimovic and Mandzukic play next to each other?

“It’s a possibility, Mario has to find more rhythm and condition, but he came up with the idea of playing with Zlatan as well. We want to have valid alternatives and try not to give points of reference to the opponents.”

On Milan receiving many penalties and hitting the post the most:

“We play attacking football, we are often inside the box. That’s why we have taken so many penalties and hit the bar multiple times. I have great respect for our referee. They are doing their best job.”

How do you evaluate the words of Gasperiniand Rizzoli?

“It does not concern us, we have great respect for our referees. they have always been considered the best in Europe. We focus on the things we can determine. We are the team that has played the most this year, we hope to continue every three days, we have many players for that too. We are focused only on this.”

Are you thinking of the derby match already?

“Only tomorrow’s match, as soon as it’s finished we’ll think about Tuesday’s match. We care, but this is our mentality. The match is tomorrow’s, it will be a tight match but we have the qualities to do well.”

Can we close the circle tomorrow with Bergamo’s 5-0?

“The circle closed with Cagliari-Milan 0-2 last year, our journey started from there. Tomorrow we have an important match.”

Who is the most formidable opponent for the Scudetto?

“We are only thinking of ourselves in order to be better. With every match that we play, there is always something to improve. In Cagliari we played one of the best races at a technical level, if we combine intensity and technique we will have more chances to win. There are seven teams that will fight for Scudetto and the Champions league spots. We continue to improve to make quality and intense performances.”

What kind of player is Tomori?

“He’s a guy who has aggression, speed, I’ve only seen him from the videos yet but the impressions are positive. We need to get to know each other better and give him time to enter our mechanisms.”

What role will Mandzukic play?

“I talked to Mario, I couldn’t expect a better answer, he told me that he will play where the team needs to try to win the games. These are evaluations that will be made a little at a time, only 2 times we had Zlatan, Rebic and Leao together. I’m happy with Mario’s arrival.”

On Calabria’s growth:

“In Davide’s growth many merits are his. Last year he never lost faith in his qualities, this year he deserved my trust with the performances he is doing in matches and in training. He is a very intelligent player. , hardly makes mistakes, he has an important vision of the game.”

Would it be better to see Brahim Diaz on the wing?

“Brahim’s position is between the lines, he has a poisonous dribble. He can also start from the outside but his best position is that.”

On Leao’s improvement up front:

“Leao can be a factor in any game, now he is playing more as a striker. Mentally he is thinking more about the goal, to be more inside the area, to be more decisive when he attempts to finish. He can beat his man with his qualities. His growth is due to staying in the game, focused for 90 minutes. Tomorrow, it will be a physical match with many duels, we must be prepared to win.”

What changed since a year ago?

“We are more convinced of our qualities and means now. This is due to results and performances. The continuity and conviction have given us an added value.”

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini said Milan ‘have shown they are a team’ when Zlatan Ibrahimovic was absent. ‘He’s unique’.
La Dea missed the opportunity to climb into the top three with a 1-1 draw against Udinese on Wednesday, but Gasperini’s men are still unbeaten in 12 games across all competitions.
Ibrahimovic returned to the starting line-up against Cagliari and scored a brace to help Milan pick up another three points at the Sardegna Arena.

The Orobici coach praised the veteran in his pre-match interview but underlined that Milan proved to be a unit when the 39-year-old was missing.
“He has his characteristics, he’s unique and extraordinary,” Gasperini said at a press conference.
“Milan have shown they are a team, they have upset the opinions of many pundits.
“Milan were able to make up for the lack of Ibra, that’s a great merit. Individuals in football are important, but the team are more important.”
Gasperini knows the public expect a great match when the two clash at San Siro, but he conceded it’s sometimes difficult to live up to the hype.
“In these types of games, you expect quality of play, but sometimes it’s not like that,” he said. “It’s a special moment, we hope it will be a game that satisfies everyone.
“It’s not easy to be at your best. The conditions are there for both."

After a couple of years of ups and downs at Manchester United, fullback Diogo Dalot is finally managing to have some regular playing time during his loan at AC Milan.

With 16 appearances for the Rossoneri so far, he was able to start in all of their games in the Europa League, and has lately been getting more chances in the Serie A.

That’s why Dalot shows his satisfaction in an interview with Associated Press today. The 21-year-old claims to be enjoying his time in Milan, and doesn’t seem to think a lot about his future.

Quizzed regarding what will be of him at the end of the season, Dalot tried to dodge the question by only claiming things are going fine for now.

“Now I’m completely focused on what’s going on here. When I go home and I can rest, I can watch Manchester or Porto matches and be happy for them, because they are winning and doing very well.”

Andrea Conti has sent a heartfelt message to AC Milan fans on social media after sealing his move to Parma earlier today.

A statement on the club’s official website earlier today confirmed that Milan and Parma have reached an agreement over the loan of Conti until the end of the season. Parma will have an obligation to make the deal permanent under certain conditions.

It means that after three and a half years Conti has bid farewell to the Rossoneri, and he gave the following statement on Instagram below…

“There are so many things to say about what I have felt in these almost 4 years but right now I can’t find the right words.

“Dear Milan, thank you for welcoming me into your wonderful story full of charm and glory, thank you for giving me the opportunity to wear this shirt so prestigious and dreamed of by so many children but above all thank you for introducing me to fantastic people that I will always carry in my heart!

“I dreamed of a different path, I wanted to do more, but despite everything I always gave my best to best honour the colours I wore and it was a privilege!

“Good luck for everything. Forever grateful. Andrea.”

AC Milan to make last January signing after the derby
Posted on January 23, 2021 by Rossonero

AC Milan have abandoned the pursuit of Barcelona’s Junior Firpo and are looking at other left-back.
The chances of signing Junior Firpo from Barcelona have decreased dramatically and it seems like transfer talks have broken down. For personal reasons, Firpo has decided to stay in Spain. At this point the Rossoneri are looking at other targets to improve their defence.

Nevertheless, AC Milan can’t close the January transfer window without a new left-back. The sale of Andrea Conti to Parma has left a void in the squad. Diogo Dalot, who until know had played mainly on the left, will return to his natural position on the right.

Tuttosport reports that Paolo Maldini and Massara are looking at a number of players. The top targets looks to be Matias Vina. The Uruguay international was close to joining Milan in the summer and the Rossoneri are monitoring his situation.

According to Tuttosport, the arrival of the new left-back can be expected only after the derby against Inter. The Rossoneri and the Nerazzurri will face each-other in the Coppa Italia on 26 January.

So far AC Milan have improved the squad in every department. Defender Tikayo Tomori was the last to join while before him had arrived midfielder Soualiho Meite and veteran striker Mario Mandzukic.

Di Marzio: AC Milan agree defender sale
Posted on January 23, 2021 by Rossonero

AC Milan have reached an agreement for the sale of Mateo Musacchio to Parma but there is one problem reports Di Marzio.
After Andrea Conti, Milan are trying to close another deal with Parma in the next few hours. The two clubs have reached an agreement for the transfer of defender Mateo Musacchio to Parma.

The Argentine has been out of Stefano Pioli’s plans for a long time and has made just one appearances this season. A clear sign that the former Villarreal won’t be considered even for the second half of the season.

The contract of Mateo Musacchio expires in six months and it will be renewed. Nevertheless, Rossoneri would like to offload him prematurely (just like they did before with Borini) for a low transfer fee.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports that AC Milan and Parma have reached a total agreement for the sale of Musacchio but the player has doubts about whether to accept a move or wait until the end of the season to evaluate other options. His desire would be to return in Spain.

Paolo Maldini and sporting director Marcello Carli are trying to convince Musacchio to accept Parma’s offer. If the Argentine says no then than Parma will try to land Federico Fazio or Daniele Rugani and the former Villarreal will stay at Milan until the end of the season.

On 3 October 2019, Tomori received his first call-up to the England senior squad for forthcoming Euro 2020 qualifying matches.[33] He later said he was committed to playing for England, following interest from Nigeria and Canada; he had previously represented Canada at youth level.[34] Tomori made his debut for England on 17 November 2019 against Kosovo.[35]
